Howdy, Wildcats!
Can you believe we are at the end of the 1st six weeks?! We sure can't! Time is really flying in this school year. In the next few weeks, we will look at every student's grades. Any student who fails two or more core classes will get called in for a meeting with us. We will have meetings with those students to see how we can support them and come up with a plan for growth.
Remember, hard work pays off!

NOTICE OF STATE REQUIRED HEALTH SCREENINGS
Dear Parents/Guardians of Wester and STEM:
State law requires that all public schools hold annual health screenings for students.
Vision, Hearing and AN: Students in 7th grade will have screenings for vision, hearing, and Acanthosis Nigricans (a visual marker that may indicate possible signs of type 2 diabetes). Also, students in the 8th grade who are new to Mansfield ISD will be screened, as well. Please be sure that your child brings his/her glasses and/or hearing aids to school on screening days.
Scoliosis: All girls in 7th grade, boys in 8th grade and new MISD students will be screened for scoliosis. The students will need to pull up their tops so I can see their spine from the back. The screening will be done in the restroom or locker rooms. Boys and girls will be screened separately.
In lieu of the screening(s) provided by the school:
- parents or guardians may provide screening record signed by a licensed professional
- parents or guardians may provide a signed exemption stating they don’t wish for their student to be tested for vision, hearing or spinal screening. Email me for that form.
These screenings will be held at our school on:
Sept 25-29 for Wester 7th and early Oct for 8th grade boys and new to district
If further evaluation by your doctor is needed, parents will be notified in writing. Please note that these screenings do not replace your child’s need for regular health care and check-ups. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

This Is Our House
Mansfield ISD is dedicated to creating a secure and friendly environment for all. Students and staff members perform better in an environment where they feel safe and protected.
“This is Our House” is a district initiative to inform the community about MISD’s holistic safety initiatives, which cover physical safety and social-emotional wellness. It includes ways to be proactive about safety and security while also outlining resources to seek help.We are all in this together, and by working together, we can continue making Mansfield ISD a safe place for everyone.
