Securly Home - Manage and Monitor Student Devices
In September, the district will begin rolling out a new resource to help you manage and monitor your children’s use of school-issued devices outside of school hours. It is called Securly Home. The goal of this tool is to promote the responsible use of technology, prevent access to inappropriate content and identify potential concerns that may require our attention.
Home-monitoring features for parents/guardians include:
The option to lock devices or limit access to the internet
The ability to monitor which websites students visit or searches they make on school-issued devices at home
Weekly email reports summarizing your child’s online activity
Real-time notifications about serious concerns like cyberbullying or self-harm-related content (this is in addition to the other tools already in place that alert school administrators)
This is a free resource for parents/guardians in our district. Within the next few weeks, you will be receiving an email directly from Securly with information about how to sign up.
All of our pre-K through fifth grade classroom teachers who support reading instruction continue to be professionally developed on the best practices for the instruction of reading. Last year the district implemented a new foundational reading skills resource for K-2, CKLA Skills, to support reading instruction in English. This year we are implementing Caminos Lectoescritura for Spanish foundational reading skills at the K-2 level for dual language students at Oak Terrace and Red Oak.

Students will have finished the NWEA MAP tests by Friday, September 8. The results of both NWEA MAP (K-8) and 2023 IAR results (4-8) will be sent home on Friday, September 15.
Dr. Kevin Ryan, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, dressed up as book character David in a visit to a Ravinia kindergarten classroom. Together they learned about classroom rules and expectations for the school year. Thanks for the fun visit, Dr. Ryan!
