Principal Kasper's Notes
Mayo School - Summer Edition
Allow Me To Introduce Myself...
Dear Mayo Families,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the days of summer! My name is Carolan Kasper, and I am thrilled to be joining the Mayo family as your new Principal. With the '23-'24 school year just around the corner, I am very excited about being a part of this wonderful community.
Before we officially begin the school year, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about my background. I have been in education for 16 years, initially starting as a 5th-grade teacher and later transitioning into an administrative role. After briefly exploring the business world post-college, I realized my true passion lay in education, and I haven't looked back since!
Worcester is not only my current home but also where I was born and raised. Coming from a family of ten children, I learned the values of community and support from an early age. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, and together we have two wonderful children, Emilie, who is a Registered Nurse, and Cam, an Engineer, both living in Boston. Now, I am thrilled to include Mayo as an extended part of my family.
During my conversations with the staff and families thus far, I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and support I have received. Your insights into the core beliefs and values at Mayo have been invaluable, and I am committed to continuing the tradition of excellence and fostering a strong sense of community within our school.
I am delighted to share some exciting news with you. We are welcoming several new members to the Mayo family! Mr. Anthony DiBenedetto will be joining us as the new Assistant Principal. Having served as an Assistant Principal at the high school for the past 15 years, Mr. DiBenedetto is eager to work with younger grade levels this year. We are also thrilled to have Ms. Kelly Trefry as our new Office Secretary. Ms. Trefry also comes to us from the high school, and I am excited that she has chosen to join us!
In addition, we are pleased to announce other positions that have been filled. Mrs. Amy Hoven will be joining the 5th Grade team, Ms. Amanda Gevry and Ms. Lauren Murphy are welcome additions to the Grade 3 team (Mrs. Cotting has moved to Grade 2), and Ms. Nicolette DiPilla will be our full-time School Adjustment Counselor.
Mayo will also have new Para-Professionals in the building. Mr. Kyle Mayou, Mrs. Jenna Elliot Rodriguez, Ms. Mia Proulz, and Mrs. Erica Gemme will be starting at Mayo.
In the spirit of growth and development, we are currently in the process of filling other open positions at our school, and once those roles are filled, we will gladly introduce the new members of the Mayo team to you as well. .
To kick off the school year on a positive note, we are planning a Meet and Greet event before the school year begins (Popsicles with the Principal). This will provide an opportunity for all of us to get to know each other better and build strong connections within the Mayo community. More details about this event will be shared with you soon and I want to thank the PTA for assisting with this event.
In the meantime, please feel free to stop by the school to say hello. I genuinely look forward to meeting you all. I have never uttered these words but...I am eager for summer to be over! I am excited to engage with our dedicated students, parents, and staff to create an exceptional learning community.
Thank you for welcoming me with open arms to the Mayo family. Together, I believe we will make a profound impact on the lives of our students, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
See you all soon!
Carolan Kasper
PS: The PTA has opened the Spiritwear Store for Mayo clothing purchases. It will only be open for the next 6 days.
