The Eagle Eye
Children are the heart of Imlay!
Dear Imlay Families,
A Message from Mrs. McCalley, Principal
This holiday season, as principal of our school, I am both extremely thankful and grateful for our hard-working teachers and staff, for our parents and community members, for our student body, and also for the great things that are happening here at Imlay Elementary which we have witnessed in the first quarter.
This year our PTA’s Eagle Walk and Roll raised over $17,153 with matching donations still coming in, which is a tribute to the great generosity of all of our families and donors. Words of appreciation cannot express how thankful and grateful we are for this monetary donation to our PTA, which goes toward helping us achieve our school’s vision of educating the whole child. Thank you to all who gave of both their time and resources to this worthwhile cause which goes to supporting student learning.
Our November Book Fair and PTA meeting was also a huge success! We had nearly 150 people participate that evening and numerous volunteers! A HUGE thank you to our Library Media Assistant, Kimberly Harrison, for thinking outside the box and spearheading our "Outdoor Book Fair!" Thank you to everyone who made it possible and for coming out to this wonderful event.
We appreciate your participation in parent-teacher conferences; we enjoyed the opportunity to connect! If you were unable to connect with your child's teacher for parent-teacher conferences, please reach out to your child's teacher for any information they might have to share.
Lastly, I wanted to extend a warm welcome to our new Imlay staff. Please help me welcome Ms. Kari Dyke (3rd grade classroom teacher), Ms. Julie Meza (recess assistant) and Ms. Carla Tippets (special education assistant). Welcome to our Imlay Family!
I would like to finish by wishing everyone in our school Happy Holidays! From our Imlay family to yours...wishing you a joyous and safe holiday season!
Yours in Eagle Pride,
Jen McCalley

Welcome Back Volunteers!
We are excited to share that we are now ready to welcome visitors back into the building!
Here are the steps that each volunteer needs to take prior to joining us in the building:
- Background check - please submit here
- Fingerprinting - this is required if you will be alone with students at any time, including working with a group in the hallway or walking a student down to the office. Starting March 29th, 2022, all volunteers will need to be fingerprinted due to new mandates. If you are not fingerprinted by this date, your volunteer status will revert back to "pending" until completed.
- Vaccine Survey - this will be emailed to you directly following the background check
Please call Debi (503-844-1090) at Imlay to verify that all steps are completed prior to reaching out to your child's teacher to schedule your volunteer time. We will be considering spacing inside the classroom and may ask that you work in the hallway, workroom, etc. to ensure maximum spacing in our classrooms for student learning. Volunteers will need to wear a mask and maintain 6' distancing. Once you are all cleared and scheduled to come into the building, please make sure you sign in/out at our computer just inside our main doors.

Parent Vue--Please check & update your Emergency Contacts
The Hillsboro School District asks that all parents review and update student and contact information yearly by logging into your ParentVUE account, opening the Online Registration module and then selecting the 2021-2022 Verification option. Having accurate parent/guardian contact information is critical for communicating school and district news, as well as attendance and emergency notifications.
Detailed instructions and a video for how to update information can be found on the HSD website (https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/Page/6187.) If you don’t have a ParentVUE account or have difficulty completing the process for any reason, please request assistance from the Imlay office.
Updated 12/2/21. International Travel Guidance for Students
NEW GUIDANCE: UPDATE!
Students traveling outside of the U.S.
If the student is vaccinated (received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine prior to travel) AND if there are no primary symptoms of COVID they do NOT have to quarantine, but it is still recommended that they get a COVID test within 5-7 days of their return. If the student is unvaccinated, there is a required quarantine of 10 days. Student may return to school on day 8 IF there are no COVID symptoms and they have a negative test within 5-7 days of their return from travel. If the student develops primary symptoms of COVID and/or receives a positive test result, the student will need to isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms/confirmation of positive test result.
Students traveling out of their home area, but within the U.S.

OLD GUIDANCE:
If any students will be traveling internationally, the expectation is that they quarantine at home for 10 days upon their return. Students should access CDL during this time and their absence should be coded RA (required absence). If the student is unvaccinated, they must remain in quarantine for the entire 10 days; if they are vaccinated and receive a negative COVID test administered 3-5 days after their return from international travel, they may go back to school upon receiving that negative result.
