Weekly Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had our Christmas Fair on both campuses this week. Both events were a great success and it was lovely to welcome so many of you to the School to support this. The classes really outdid themselves with the handmade produce on offer and I know the raffles and tombola's proved popular as ever. Thank you once again for all the generous donations to support this on both campuses.

Just a reminder that if your child displays any COVID symptoms they will need to stay at home and take a PCR test which can be provided by the office, or isolate for 10 days. I thank you for your continued support with this in these challenging times.

I hope you all have a good weekend

Thistle class this week have had some truly magical moments. The students worked really hard to support the Christmas market which was a huge success. They have really shown true friendships this week, particularly our star of the week Josh Ikin who had 3 consecutive days of social activities. This has never been seen before. Tuesday Josh made Christmas cards for peers in class and asked for each of them to visit him, Wednesday he attended the pantomime and wrote a thank you letter to the theatre company and Thursday he helped decorate a Christmas tree with his new friend Reece. Well done Josh, we are so proud of you!

Teal class had a fantastic week getting ready for Christmas in class. Students decorated the class and enjoyed the Christmas Fair. Our star of the week is Ritam for using Core Board to identify numbers 1-5. Well done Ritam!

Violet class have had a blast this week, all students enjoyed watching and taking part in the pantomime as well as selling their homemade items for the Christmas stall. Students greeted visitors and worked on their money recognition when exchanging money with customers.

This week in Mint class we have been busy exploring Christmas props. Although we didn't make it to the Pantomime, we watched pantomime videos in class and had great fun. Mint class participated in the Christmas market making reindeers chocolate bags, thanks for purchasing them!!!. We did explore some toys from the fair and play to turn them on and off while watching lights and music.

In Iris class Declan has been working well transitioning around school. Well done Declan!

In Sapphire class Tobey is staying longer in the classroom and he seems to be happy, Well done Tobey!

Lavender's star of the week is Tim. He used public transport to go to the library this week and found the experience quite overwhelming. Tim tried his very best to stay regulated until he got back to school, holding on to his teacher very tightly through the tears. Well done for being so brave Tim!

It is starting to feel very festive in school and in Olive we have had a fun filled week with the pantomime on Wednesday and the fair on Thursday. We have been busy making Christmas tree decorations and look forward to more Christmas activities next week. Today we have celebrated Maa Abena's birthday. Our star of the week this week is Diya for her continued interaction with staff and for following instructions.

This week Lilac class have been focusing on the importance of well-being through exercise, group play and healthy eating. Harrison has also been working hard on his new daily timetable which limits computer use during lesson time. He is really proud of himself and has been well regulated throughout the week. Well done Haribo!

Park Campus

This week we celebrate all the children in Hebe class for sitting so beautifully during the pantomime. Well done everyone!

The Star of the Week in Poppy Class is Ty Stalker for amazing behaviour in class, listening to adults and participating really well in the learning. He showed a massive improvement in staying regulated throughout the week and we are all really proud of him! Well done Ty

Lily Class Star of the Week is Lucy for making great strides with her toilet training this week!

Sunflower class member Ayaan has surprised everyone by winning Star of the Week twice running! This week he has been walking up the steps in the discovery forest (and then coming down the slide) six times in a row. That’s roughly 80 stairs! He has also been standing at a tuff tray to play rather than lying on the floor. We are so proud of him.

Superstar of the week in Sycamore goes to Vasyl for organising the Christmas fair stall and raising funds towards Duke of Edinburgh expedition and to Tate for sharing his truck with his peer. Well done boys!

Orchid Class ‘Star of the Week’ is Connor, for communicating by tapping the core board during highly motivating adult interactions.

And on the Hill Campus it's Max! Well done Max for your hard work during your high tech device trial this week.

Christmas Events Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to the everchanging Covid-19 situation we have to constantly review our risk assessment and have had to make some difficult decisions around the Christmas events we have planned over the next few weeks. Please see below for an update:

Christmas Shows:

Sherwood Hill - Unfortunately due to a rise in cases at our Sherwood Hill campus this event can no longer take place in person and will instead be a virtual event. The events will take place via a limited access YouTube link which will premiere at the original timings of 10am on both Monday 6th January and Tuesday 7th January and will only be available to parents of our pupils. The YouTube links will be shared via a Christmas Show button on the school website home page. The event will only be made available at these scheduled times.

Sherwood Park - Due to cases remaining very low at our Sherwood Park campus this event will continue to be a live event, however we will be asking everyone, unless exempt to wear a face covering. We also ask that all parents/carers attending this event take a Lateral Flow test in the morning before coming to school and that they should have any Covid-19 symptoms that they do not attend.

Church Services:

Due to limited capacity in both churches, unfortunately we are unable to facilitate parents at this event now. This will therefore be for pupils and school staff only.

Citizenship Assemblies:

Unfortunately, again due to number restrictions and rising cases, we are unable to facilitate parents at our Citizenship Assemblies this term.

We hope that you can understand the decisions that we have made and that the measures we have had to put in place are there to keep our pupils, staff and of course yourselves, as safe as possible during this uncertain time.

Kind regards

Jess Baldwin
