Principal's Message
Hello Covington Community!
As we wrap up another week of academic pursuits, it's heartening to witness the dedication and resilience of our students during the STAAR interim assessments in Math and ELA. This week served as a valuable benchmark to gauge their progress, providing essential insights that will guide us in fine-tuning our curriculum for optimal learning outcomes. For those unable to participate this week, worry not - make-up assessments will be available throughout the upcoming week.
With approximately seven weeks until the ELA STAAR, the data collected will play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to ensure each student is well-prepared for success. We appreciate the students' hard work and commitment to their education.
Looking ahead, we return to a traditional school week, but with a touch of love in the air! Valentine's Day falls in the middle of the week, and while we encourage expressions of affection, we kindly request that students refrain from bringing balloons or large stuffed animals to school. Any such items received will be safely stored in the front office until the end of the day.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who graced us with their presence at the Coffee With the Principal, Campus Advisory Committee, and PTA meetings this week. Your involvement is truly appreciated, and it contributes significantly to the success of our school community.
As we embark on the weekend, take a moment to relax and rejuvenate. We eagerly anticipate the return of our enthusiastic students on Monday. Your continued support is instrumental in fostering a positive and thriving educational environment.

Covington Counselor's Corner
9th Grade Choice Sheet Visits
Our 8th graders will be working with HS counselors to complete their choice sheets this month. Bowie and Akins have visited the school. If your student is zoned for those schools and missed the meeting, please reach out to the counselors to get the choice sheet information.
Crockett HS Choice Sheet Visits- Feb 14th & 15th at Covington
High schools that are not visiting Covington to do choice sheets with 8th graders will work with our campus to get their students scheduled.
If your student is zoned to a different school than they want to attend, you will need to complete a General Transfer request on the Enroll Austin website.
7th & 8th Grade Choice Sheets!
Our current 6th & 7th graders are currently completing Self-Serve to pick their classes for next year. All of the information including instructions, a helpful video, and the link to Self-Serve can be found on our Counselor BLEND page. Please reach out to the counselors if you have any questions or issues. We are excited to help students get ready for next year!

GeoFORCE Summer Camp Program
8th grade students were invited to check out the University of Texas GeoFORCE presentation this week. They got info about how to apply and where they will visit. El Ranchito Nature Summer Camp
If your student is interested in exploring nature and making lifelong friends, check out El Ranchito! It is a low-cost local summer camp that brings adventure and nature together. Explore Austin!

We open our Colt Store every Friday during lunch so that students can purchase items using Colt Cash they have earned from their teachers for great behavior and academic progress.
