Dear Families and Staff,

What a year! The finish line for the 2021 calendar year is within sight. And despite it being the most challenging year most have ever experienced, I have also witnessed countless signs of empathy, resilience and determination. This year has tested our students, staff, families and community. While challenges remain, Eatonville School District continues to be committed to providing the best possible education to students.

There are many things to be thankful for during the holiday season, however, I am also reminded of the many families and community members who struggle throughout the year to meet basic needs. I encourage each of us to find opportunities to provide whatever assistance we can (time, resources, etc.) to help local food banks such as the Eatonville Family Agency, charities or other community outreach programs during this holiday season (and throughout the year) in support of our students and families in need.

Over Winter Break, I hope you find time to relax, refresh and unplug so you’re ready to greet 2022 and all the promise it brings.

Come cheer on the Cruisers as they take on the Royal Knights in the WIAA State Championship game. Kickoff is at 12 pm. Tickets are available online only.

This year we had 4 Senior women who were candidates for the 2022 EHS Daffodil Princess. They were:

• Lexi Brickey
• Kaci Chidester
• Alexis Powell
• Taylor Limbird

All 4 candidates did a tremendous job with their interviews, speeches, and impromptu questions and they all deserve a big congratulations! At the end of the evening, Alexis Powell was crowned Eatonville's 2022 Daffodil Princess.

Alexis will be one of twenty-three princesses crowned from Pierce County and will be a member of the Daffodil Royal Court. She will represent Eatonville and Pierce County in many service projects and events the Royal Court will attend. Alexis will also receive a $2000 scholarship. Thank you to the families, friends, and staff members who attended the Selection program and supported our candidates.

Alexis provided a personal thanks statement, "I would like to thank all the girls who were running with me and all the hard work they put in. I am also grateful to Angelina Mireles-Mazza for being kind and considerate and helping us prepare for our Selection evening. I would really like to thank everyone who showed up to support all of us, especially my family and my swim family."

Congratulations to seniors Hailey Rath and Berkeley Porter for signing their letters of intent today. Hailey signed with Western Washington University to play Softball. Berkeley signed with Corban University to play Softball. We are so proud of our Cruiser Athletes!

Due to difficulty receiving food service orders and the nationwide supply chain issues, we cannot guarantee we will be able to offer the entree published in the menu.

Due to the end of quarter and the Thanksgiving holiday, each group only got to meet one time this month. Both groups learned about the Design process by completing a Turkey race STEM challenge. The slowest turkeys were eaten for Thanksgiving dinner! In both groups, we learned about multiple intelligences and students took a survey to determine which intelligences they display most strongly. This led into an introduction and start of their personal passion projects, where they get to choose a project to focus on for themselves at the start of the new year. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we completed gratitude activities for important people in our lives. In middle school, we also finished up parts of our article review for the Frontier for Young Minds Journal. In elementary, we did a lesson on synonyms as part of our gratitude activity.

• Orders will be available for pick up at EHS on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10-11am.

All proceeds support scholarships for the EHS Class of '22.

The Cruiser Tennis Team are the sole winners of the District 3 1A league (since they were the only team in District 3 1A). Although they played 2A teams all season, these top players entered the District 4 Tournament to qualify for 1A State Tournament.

This tournament is often been noted to be a higher level of play than the actual State Tournament. Despite not qualifying for State, the Cruisers demonstrated the same high skill level of playing. #1 singles and #1 doubles each played 2 hour matches ending their final matches with 3rd set tie breakers; losing by only 3 and 4 points respectively. Always honest with their line calls, and complimenting to their opponents winning shots, the Cruisers displayed superb sportsmanship and court etiquette.
