EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
For the first Educator of the Week of the 23-24 school year, we have recognized Ms. Mikenzie Matheson, one of our talented Elementary Music teachers. Ms. Matheson spends her time working between the DWS & the EWS and she has made a huge impact on both schools.
As Principal MacNeil noted, "Ms. Matheson's music class is the highlight of the week for kids! She always has them singing and moving to the beat." Principal Bishop added that, "She is wonderful with all age groups. Her choice of content is superb and she possesses many talents."
Our music team is phenomenal and Ms. Matheson helps make it stronger by the creativity and enthusiasm she brings to every lesson. We are fortunate to have her on our team. Congratulations Ms. Matheson!!

MPSD STRATEGIC PLAN
In June, the School Committee voted unanimously to approve the District’s next five-year Strategic Plan. The process behind the creation of the plan started last winter and over a six month period, 21 volunteers came together to put together a plan that will help guide the District for the next five years.
Parents, teachers, administrators, students and school committee members worked to identify the key areas we wanted to focus on to keep the district moving forward. Much of their work was based on the input we received from stakeholders from across the community of Marshfield. We had multiple focus groups and collected over 1,000 surveys from parents, students and staff. The team also looked at a tremendous amount of data to gauge what our strengths were and where we needed to improve.
The team came together six times before concluding their efforts in early June. Below you see a “dashboard” for the Strategic Plan that highlights our Mission, Vision, Core Values and our 4 key Pillars/Objectives for the District. You will also find a link to the entire document, which is posted on the District website.
I want to thank our team for all of their hard work. They came to every session with a positive attitude and a desire to see how we could make our District better. I also want to thank all of the stakeholders from across the community who shared their thoughts, ideas and feedback. Their input helped drive the process and the entire document ties directly back to the feedback we received.

SCENES FROM ACROSS THE DISTRICT
MPSD TO JOIN SOUTH SHORE REGIONAL VOCATIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
In the spring, Marshfield ATM voted to support Marshfield's entry into the SSRVSD. That was followed by each of the eight member districts also supporting Marshfield's application for entry. Now that the state has approved the agreement, MPSD students will be able to apply for admission for the 2024-25 school year later this school year.
In addition to DESE approving the agreement, they also informed the MPSD that we would be able to have a non-voting member on the existing SSRVSD School Committee for the 2023-24 school year. At its last meeting, the Marshfield School Committee voted to have Richard Greer serve in that role. After July 1, 2024, a permanent representative for Marshfield will be appointed to the SSRVSD School Committee.
SSRVSD Superintendent, Tom Hickey, met with the Marshfield Board of Selectmen and the Marshfield School Committee over the past few weeks and spoke about plans to make our students and our community aware of enrollment possibilities. They will be sharing information with our guidance departments and there is an official Open House at the SSRVSD on October 21st.
Superintendent Hickey also spoke to both boards about the proposed building project, which was discussed last spring at ATM. They will start holding informational meetings on the project in towns throughout the District, including Marshfield, later this fall. SSRVSD is looking to have proposals for their project to the Massachusetts School Board Authority (MSBA) by June of 2024 and would bring plans to their member districts to vote on in the spring of 2025.
By becoming a member of the SSRVSD, Marshfield students who have a desire to learn in a vocational setting are going to have the opportunity to enroll in a learning community that best matches their skill sets and future aspirations.
Thank you once again to last Spring's Annual Town Meeting for their support of this initiative.
