September 16, 2022
Dear BRUIN Families,
We had a wonderful week of class activities, sporting events, theme days, pep rallies, and fun as we head into our last few days of Homecoming 2022. The kids have been absolutely wonderful this year! On Saturday, 9/17, there will be music, vendors, and food at the 12 Corners area from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. We will then have the annual BHS Homecoming Parade at 12:45 PM (line-up begins at Noon). The annual football game will be at 6 PM on the BHS turf field. Have a great weekend!
Don’t forget – The BHS OPEN HOUSE is on Thursday, 9/22 from 6:25 – 8:25 PM. You will follow your student’s schedule for 10-minute in person class periods. Here is the link to the OPEN HOUSE letter and schedule information.
Thanks!

Hispanic Heritage Month
This week marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, which goes from September 15-October 15. The celebration spans one month to coincide with the anniversaries of independence in many Central and South American countries, including Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Hispanic Heritage Month officially lasts for 31 days, but the celebration of Latinx communities can and should continue all year long. Throughout the month, Brighton School Buildings will be educating our students and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Additionally, there are many local resources available to families who may be interested in learning more and some of them are linked below.
Hispanic Heritage Celebration Day: at the Memorial Art Gallery
Latino Oral Histories: from Rochester Voices
City of Rochester International Plaza: A New Latin themed event space and marketplace.
Hipocampo Children's Books: A local, independent book shop with a collection of books representing the rich cultures and languages in WNY.
