Omaha North
September 2022
From the Principal
Greetings Viking Families,
The 2022-23 School Year is off to a great start. We are excited to have students engaged in learning and extra-curricular activities! Be sure to keep up with everything by following the North High Calendar at mhsaaconference.org.
Continue to support your students with arriving to school on-time with their fully charged iPad and cord. Teachers are working hard to provide high quality learning experiences where students develop communication, collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking skills.
School Safety is our top priority so we will be reviewing Safety Procedures and conducing safety drills. Your students may also talk to you about “hall sweeps,” which are designed to get students to class on-time. We also continue our partnership with the Omaha Police Department K9 Unit to assist with detection of contraband at school. All these measures are part of our continuing effort so cultivate a positive, safe, and rigorous learning environment.
Please review the Newsletter for additional updates. Thank you for your continued support of the Viking Community. If you have any questions, please contact us at 531-299-2700.

Attendance Navigator Assistant (A.N.A)
Dear Omaha North High Families,
Thank you for being our partners in the education of your student(s). At the start of the 2022-23 school year we will be participating in an Attendance Text message program called Attendance Navigator Assistant (A.N.A). This program will replace the morning automated call and will notify you via text message when your student is absent. The message will be sent to your email if you do not have a mobile number registered with the District. Although each message is attached to a specific day, it is important to submit a response the same day if possible. Also, if you want to record an absence in advance, you can continue to contact our attendance office 531-299-2708. In order to ensure you are enrolled to participate in this program please confirm your contact information is correct and up-to-date with the front office. Contact your school 531-299-2700 to make changes or if you have additional questions.
We thank you in advance for your communication and commitment to our students.
Congrats to.........
The Viking cheerleaders who went to a cheer competition this summer and won 1st place, voted as the most impressive team and were asked to perform their routine in front of the rest of the competition. Way to go, Vikings!

Standard Response Protocol for Parents
Schools and communities must be prepared for a variety of emergency situations. Our school has established plans and has prepared for major emergency situations. We believe a person’s reaction to an emergency situation depends largely on their training and practice beforehand.
Omaha Public Schools uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), which includes five main drills: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter.
