Our boys basketball team has begun the district portion of the season. Currently 1-4 with loses to Bells, Gunter, and Pottsboro; and a win over Blue Ridge. Over the Christmas Break they participated in the Leonard Holiday Tournament going 1-3 on the weekend.
Our boys soccer team kicked off the season on 1/8 vs North Lamar. Our JV team won 2-1 and V tied 2-2. The varsity team traveled to Denison for a weather shortened tournament. They lost to North Lamar and Pleasant Grove, both 3-0 on day 1. Our JV team is in tournament action this week and our varsity will travel to Sherman in preparation of district which begins next week.
Our boys and girls powerlifting teams lead by Coach Dills and Coach Nichols open up the season at Honey Grove. Both girls and boys had successful meets with newcomers learning the ins and outs of an official meet and our veterans picking up where they left off last year. Seniors Leo Zapata matched his Regional total from a year ago in meet 1 and Justin McBride was a scratched deadlift away from the state total. Our teams will travel to Paris Chisum and Whitewright in the next two weeks before we host our meet to gear up for regionals.
