News & Resources from your School Counselor & Success Coach
Hi Findley Families!
I have spent the last three months at home with my new baby boy, Jude. He is three months old now and is such a sweet and snuggly baby! I couldn't help myself and included a picture of him below :)
Please reach out to me or Mrs. Hargrave, we are here to support you and your children. Thank you for being such an incredible community to serve. We appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Emily Gotfried

Need Volunteers to Help with Meal Prep at Elementary Schools
Nutrition Services is very excited to be serving so many in the community. The do however need extra assistance to put the meals together and are asking for volunteers to assist with bagging and wrapping of meal components that go home daily.
We will be allowing volunteers into the building to assist with this task. Please make sure that you have your background checks completed prior to signing up for these times. We will need 2 volunteers daily 8am - 11am (hours can be flexible if needed)
We know many of you have reached out to find volunteer opportunities and are excited to have this need in our school.

Kindergartners continue to learn about Kelso's Choices. Big problems are when we feel unsafe or in danger, and we tell an adult. Small problems are problems we can solve by ourselves trying out a few of Kelso's Choices: Go to another game, Share and Take Turns, Talk It Out, Walk Away, Ignore It, Tell Them To Stop, Apologize, Make a Deal, & Wait and Cool Off.
Students are asked to try 2 of Kelso's Choices when they have a small problem. If they still can't solve it, then they should ask an adult for help.
1st & 2nd Graders wrapped up a unit on Problem Solving. This unit is designed to help students learn problem-solving skills:
- Accept and value different feelings and perspectives.
- Develop empathy
- Identify and generate solutions to interpersonal problems.
- Understand how to compromise with others
- Practice self-regulation
3rd, 4th, & 5th Graders wrapped up learning about Problem Solving and this week they started a new unit on Peer Relationships. Children practice positive social skills and learn the qualities that are important to friendship, the consequences of bullying, and how to provide peers with support. In our first lesson, we identified qualities important to friendships.

We continue to have bilingual staff and volunteers serving Spanish-speaking patrons. This term we are partnering with community-based organizations to accommodate even more languages. Terpenning Complex at 15707 SW Walker Rd.
