KINDERGARTEN EXPLORERS
Kindergarten students had a fun time celebrating the 100th Day on January 26th! Students dressed up as 100-year-olds, and decorated shirts or posters with 100 items. Students also did fun activities like read 100 words, create a 100th day hat, and did 100 exercises!
FIRST GRADE EXPLORERS
First Grade had so much fun on the 100th day of school last week. We completed so many different 100 day of school activities including what we will look like when we are 100! We have been very busy learning to tell time to the hour and half hour. We have also been learning all about George Washinton Carver. We enjoyed singing our catchy song about him to remember all 300 of his inventions with peanuts.

READING BOWL
Our 4th and 5th graders represented Northwood in the FCS Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl on January 27th. We are so proud of these students for buzzing in fearlessly and demonstrating top-notch sportsmanship!
MEDIA CENTER NUMBERS
This month we added 88 new books for circulation! This lucky reader rocked her Mahomes jersey and snagged the first checkout of the brand-new Patrick Mahomes book. Talk about perfect timing!
BLACK HISTORY MONTH: ROSWELL STUDENT ART EXHIBIT
Every year, Northwood students participate in a collaborative art piece that celebrates African Americans. The artwork is displayed in the Roswell City Hall Rotunda during Black History Month as a part of the Roswell Roots Festival. This year, 2nd - 5th grade students learned about Ruby Bridges and created a portrait based on her iconic photo and quote, "Don't follow the path. Go where there is no path and start a trail." The Exhibit will be on display January 29 - March 29.
ROSWELL ROOTS: CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Looking for ways to celebrate Black History Month? Roswell Roots is a community-wide, month-long festival that honors our diverse community and celebrates Black History Month. Roswell Roots aims to educate, impact, and promote cultural awareness.
Programs and events focus on welcoming all community members and offers an opportunity for all ages to engage and participate. Activities include music, poetry, storytelling, tours and more. Our very own Northwood artwork (see the story above) will be on display in the Roswell City Hall Rotunda through March 29. For more information, visit Roswell365.com/categories/roswell-roots/

VALENTINE'S DAY MESSAGE FROM FCS
Dear Parents or Guardians,
As we approach Valentine’s Day, it is important to ensure that all homemade candy, desserts, baked goods, or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours, and that appropriate store-bought items are delivered to the administration. Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students with allergies, etc. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
CHECKMATE: NEW KIOSK FOR CHECKING VISITORS IN AND OUT
Fulton County Schools has replaced the Raptor system with CheckMate to make the visitor check in and out process easier and more efficient. CheckMate is the same system that we are currently using for students. Visitors will use the kiosk to the left with the large monitor; and student check in and out will remain on the laptop to the right.
All visitors will simply need to scan their driver's license and the system will print a visitor sticker to be worn at all times inside the building. When leaving, please make sure to scan the sticker to officially check out.
Volunteers
All Volunteers will need to re-register here. - even if you registered at the beginning of the school year. Volunteers will not have to register again until May 31, 2026.
