MES Soaring to Success
Principal weekly update
Good afternoon parents!
First I want to thank all of your for your wonderful generosity during the Holiday Time!! Your thoughtfulness and the amount of gifts I received was so overwhelming. I could not keep up with the individual thank you messages!! Please forgive me for that! Your generosity when it came to donating hats, gloves, gifts for those less fortunate and monetary donations for PJ Day were amazing! The MES community is the best! Thank you!
This Friday, January 5th we will celebrate students who had perfect attendance for the 1st trimester. Invitations went out before the break so please make sure to RSVP if you received an invite. We will also be celebrating the families of students who had perfect attendance during the 1st trimester! One adult per child may attend the short ceremony on Friday afternoon.
Danbury Hat Tricks hockey players will be visiting us on January 8th to demonstrate their skills and to get students excited about the MES night at the Hat Tricks on Jan 13th. Make sure you see the PTO news to purchase your tickets!
During the month of January and early February we will be delving into our middle of the year testing. Please try to have your students attend every day as they will be testing in ELA, Math and Science. These tests will help us determine next steps for each of your children in the academic paths. Any questions please feel free to reach out to me!!
I hope you all had a wonderful week off and welcome back!

A Note from the Nurse
When should I keep my child home from school?
Consider keeping your child home if they:
- Have a fever of 100.1 degrees or higher
- Have been vomiting
- Have pink eye(s)
- Have flu like symptoms
- Have Covid-19 like symptoms or have tested positive for Covid-19 [please see school nurse for updated guidelines and recommendations]
- Have symptoms preventing them from participating in school such as:
- Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
- Productive coughing or sneezing, inability to consistently cover cough/sneeze
- Headache, body aches, earache
- Sore throat
- Rash
- Keep your child home until their fever has been gone for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. Please see school nurse for updated guidelines and recommendations concerning Covid-19. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Although your child's presence in school is important, returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and expose others unnecessarily to illness.
