KISU Primary Newsletter
Number 518................................... 7th April 2022
Directors Message
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who works at KISU for all of their efforts in returning the school to some sort on normality and we are in a good place to move on to a vibrant, holistic and happy school in the post pandemic era. Whilst our examination classes will be working over the break, I would encourage our students and staff to have a well earned break so that they come back fit and raring to go for the third and final term of our academic year.
NEXT TERM BEGINS ON MONDAY 25TH APRIL
Just to reiterate what one teacher sent home earlier this week...
Good Morning Parents,
There has been a lot of talk in class this term about media with ratings of 18+ or TV-MA. Some of the content we have heard children speaking of is rated as such for containing violence and gore, sexual violence, sadistic behaviour and sex & nudity.
With children at home for the next fortnight, they are bound to be accessing devises more than in recent weeks so please be aware of what your children are watching, what they are discussing with other children that they have watched, or are intending to watch based on others discussions!. Please monitor their computer and internet usage and we advise you to set parental control restrictions on your web browsers and media accounts if you haven't already.
Mr Polan will happily record a Loom video to share with parents next term to help you to set these controls if you are unaware. Any child with a personal device would benefit from these controls being set. Thank you Mr Polan!
Reports and Overviews should be with you
Topic Overviews were also sent out this week by Class Teachers and the remainder of the curriculum to be covered in each year group looks like it will be taught through many exciting and creative contexts which the children are sure to love and engage in fully. I look forward to classes launching their Term 3 topics and following their learning journeys through watching class presentations and assemblies, newsletter contributions, 'drop-ins' and 'learning looks' around the school and open classrooms (such as Year 2 had on Thursday afternoon to showcase their Term 2 learning).
Thank you parents for coming into school to see your child's work; it was very obvious that the children were very excited to have you in their classrooms, and they were super proud to show you their learning learning outcomes over the past term.
Clubs
Brain Master clubbers please note that the first 10 weeks ended this week. If your child wants to sign up or continue with this club, a new fee needs to be paid and this will be for 8 weeks and is to be confirmed.

Year 5 ICT update
Students in Year 5 have studied the work of architects, designers, and engineers who use modelling programs to gain experience with a 3D virtual environment. They created models of buildings to see how they could best utilize space. Not only are they competent information technologists, they are also now architects!
Music Assembly
Inter-house fun, friendship and competition!
Term 2 ended with a bang! The inter-house basketball tournament was largely organized by our Year 6 house captains, who planned and prepared for the Key Stage 2 Y3-6 games throughout the day. It was wonderful to see so much leadership, sportsmanship, and camaraderie throughout the day. Whilst most of the games were very close, the overall winner of this year’s inter-house basketball tournament was….
The Sensational Semlikis!
The day ended with a fun teachers vs. house all-stars game. An excellent effort was shown by the all-stars, but they will need to wait another year to try and break the teachers’ winning streak!
We will add these house points on to the running total and announce the house point front runner in next term's first Friday assembly. Parents please note the following:

EYFS - Easter Eggstravaganza
We're going on an Easter egg hunt,
We're going to find a chocolatey one,
We're not full!
Oh oh... a tyre!
A big, black heavy tyre...
We can't look under it,
We can't look through it
We'll have to look inside it!
An egg, a yummy, scrummy velvety egg,
open, rustle, crack gobble...
We're definitely going on an Easter egg hunt again!
