St. Thomas More School News
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”
(Phillipians 2:3)
Prayers for the Faithful Departed
Today in the red family folder, you will be receiving a card with the Prayer for the Faithful Departed. Please take some time to write the names of your loved ones who have passed away.
We will be collecting these cards and bringing them to Mass on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. After Mass, the cards will be placed in the Ofrenda in the Cafeteria.
Boys Bathroom Vandalism
Unfortunately STM is experiencing a large amount vandalism occuring in the boys bathroom on second and third floor. This means that boys in grades 3-8 are choosing to use the bathroom inappropriately, damaging toilets, and creating an unclean and messy space. We can use your help talking to your students about how honoring our school means taking care of our school spaces including bathrooms.
The school policy regarding Vandalism can be found on page 29 in the Family Handbook.
Cold Weather Outdoor Clothing
STM Students head outside for recess each and every day. The fresh air and opportunity to run and play is an important part of a student's day. Please be sure your students are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Please ensure your students have winter coats, hats, mittens, scarves, etc. When the snow arrives, it will be imperative that students bring boots and snowpants as well.
Pictures for Día de Muertos Ofrenda
Thank you to the many STM moms who helped decorate and assemble our Día de Muertos Ofrenda! If your child(ren) would like to bring in photos of the loved ones in your family who have passed away, the teachers will allow students to place these on our Ofrenda. Please ensure that your student's name is on the back of the photo so that we can return the photos to you after the celebration. We will be bringing our photos and loved ones to Mass with us on November 8th to pray for their souls!
Attendance Reminder
Please remember that anytime your child is late to school, or leaves early, they must be signed in or out of school by a parent or an approved adult. This includes if your children are tardy to school in the morning. Please DO NOT simply just drop off your child at the front doors, please come in so we can have you sign your child in or out. Thank you!
Dress Code Policy Update
Beginning on Wednesday, November 1st, St. Thomas More School will be implementing an additional two rules related to our dress code:
- Students must have their natural fingernails. No plastic, acrylic, or fake nails will be allowed for students. Addtionally, only modest nail polish may be used on natural nails.
- Any jewlery worn by students must be modest and school appropriate.
These changes are to ensure that students can be successful at school in a healthy and safe learning environment for all. Any students found to be in violation of the above rules will have the following consequences:
- Warning; parents are notified and student is expected to return the school the following day with the correct dress code in place
- Student is sent home to correct the dress code infraction
- A parent meeting with the Principal
Thank you very much for helping ensure our students have a safe, healthy, and God-honoring school experience!
