Tena koutou katoa,
2023 Fleming Shield Succes for Charlie and Connor!
We are delighted to report that Charlie Knight and Connor Wood were key members of the victorious Southern Stags (Te Aroha- Paeroa Combined) in the recent Fleming Shield tournament. The team, selected from the best Year 8 players from Te Aroha and Paeroa, went undefeated throughout this prestigious Thames Valley School Boys tournament. The Fleming Shield was first up for grabs in 1927 and was last won by Te Aroha- Paeroa in 2018.
It is fitting for both Charlie and Connor that they got to taste regional rugby success prior to heading to Te Aroha College next year. Charlie and Connor epitomise our ‘Whaia Kia U’ - Strive to Succeed Learner Dimension. Both boys gave their all throughout the tournament, showcased their natural talent and were supportive team members.
Charlie and Connor we are proud of you both and we look forward to watching your future sporting endeavours with great interest.

Uniform
Over the last month we have been noticing an increase in the amount of non- uniform jerseys, jackets, pants and shorts. It is important to remember that our school uniform colour for pants, shorts and skorts is navy blue not black! Track pants in particular need to be navy in colour and must only contain small logos if they are non SAS track pants. A reminder that the uniform room is open from 8.30 am on Wednesday mornings.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Cross country 2023
Our Piwakawaka students led the way, running around Boyd Park with the help of our Ruru students, followed by the age groups. Some of these races were hotly contested right to the end. Cross Country is not something that all students love to take part in, but it shows resilience, perseverance and teamwork from all those that compete, at whatever level. All qualities we are looking to grow in our students and qualities that will stand them in great stead in their adult lives.
It was wonderful to see so many whānau in attendance, and the beautiful smiles as our tamariki crossed the line, showed how much they appreciated you all coming to support and cheer them on.
A huge thank you to Vinnie, Al, Robbin and Kate who worked tirelessly to set up in the morning, Miss Williams who ran the health and safety check prior to racing and Di Meyler and the staff, as well as our volunteers. Without you all, we can not run a day like this, using the wetlands, so again, well done and thank you.
Ka pai to all participants and congratulations to our place getters and especially to the 60 athletes who have been selected to represent the school at Districts Cross Country to be held at Manawaru School next week.

Our Heartfelt Condolences
We remember Jim as our dearly loved caretaker of 33 years and as the face of 'Charlie." We have a friendship seat outside Room 7 and 8 named after Jim, a place where our students can sit and talk...something Jim loved to do with our students.
We offer heartfelt condolences and support to Jess and the extended Knight Family at this very sad time and as a sign of respect, we will be flying the flag at half mast today.
