Dear LRE Families,

Next week is a busy one! Please don’t forget that our schedule on Monday looks different than normal, we will start school at 8:25 and students will be dismissed at 1:10. This is to accommodate high school graduations. We also have Celebration Night next Thursday evening. This is a long-held tradition at LRE, where we spend time having fun and celebrating the learning that has happened over the school year!

In November, we announced the much-anticipated graduation dates. But, we just want to make sure this is still on everyone's radar that graduation is June 12 — Bonney Lake, 4 p.m.; Sumner, 7 p.m. — at the Tacoma Dome. To help support graduation attendance for staff and families for the earlier BLHS ceremony, the entire district will have a two-hour early dismissal instead of the normal Monday two-hour late start on June 12. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Two-hour early dismissal schedule for June 12:

• Secondary, 12:20 p.m.: Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools; Lakeridge, Mountain View and Sumner middle schools
• Elementary (early start schools), 1:10 p.m.: Crestwood, Daffodil Valley, Liberty Ridge, Maple Lawn, Victor Falls
• Elementary (late start schools), 1:45 p.m.: Bonney Lake, Donald Eismann, Emerald Hills, Tehaleh Heights
• Sumner Early Learning Center, 1:20 p.m.

Any students with medications in the health room should have them picked up by the last day or we will dispose of them in accordance with regulations. We dismiss at 11:40 on June 22nd, but the health room and office will be open the full day.

Please join us for our annual Celebration Night and Food Drive to support the Bonney Lake Food Bank - The Market. The Principal with the biggest pile of food will get to pie the face of the Principal with the smallest pile of food! Please read below for what items are needed to support The Market.

We will have several community groups on hand to share information about summer programs. We will have the Sumner Family Center, The Prairie Ridge Coalition, The Market, East Pierce County Fire Department, and the Sheriff's Department here. We love that our community partners with us to bring resources to our families.

The East Pierce Fire Department will also be here to fit bike helmets and life jackets. They take cash or card for payment. And, we might have a fire truck there for kids to check out as long as there are no emergencies that call them out.

Join the PTO once again for the annual Celebration Night Raffle! Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 (that is an extra ticket for free!). Also, if you purchase $100 worth of tickets, you will also get a case of World's Finest Chocolates.

Tickets may be purchased with a card by accessing the QR codes on the flyers sent out by PTO or their Facebook page. Checks are also accepted and should be made out to LRE PTO. Please direct any questions to LRE PTO.

Did you know that your health services team is already planning for next year?

• If your child receives medication at school, medication-at-school orders must be signed by your medical provider dated June 1, 2023 or later for the upcoming school year.
• Documentation and medications for life threatening health conditions must be provided by September 5, 2023, in order for the student to attend school.
• If your child has a current IHP or a medication at school order, you will be receiving additional communication from your school health room.

We encourage you to make necessary medical appointments now so that you are prepared to send your child to school on the first day of the new school year.

Silent Dismissal Car Tags-

• We are keeping the same numbering system for families for next year. New enrollments will get the same tags until we run out. Your number that you have will remain the same so please keep your car tags. If you need another tag, we can print them out with the silent dismissal program, but they will be a little bit different since we are unable to get the same kind we currently have.
• Families/Students leaving LRE- if you can please return tags. But, if you don't that is okay. We will be de-activating those numbers that are not returned for security purposes.

School Supplies -

• Our PTO has generously donated all the school supplies for next year so that all students come ready to learn on the first day. They recognize the role that identical supplies play in equity among our students.
• Should you want to contribute to the PTO to help recoup the cost of school supplies for your student, a suggested donation of $25 would go to LRE PTO.
• Optional supplies to bring the first day of school would be: facial tissue, fragrance-free (not unscented) baby wipes, personal earphones/earbuds, and computer mice (grades 1-5 only)

Do you know a child who will be five years old on or before Aug. 31? Maybe it's your neighbor, friend or even your own child. Now’s the time to enroll kindergarten students for the 2023-24 school year. The sooner you enroll, the better we can keep you informed.
