Northwood Elementary Connection
September Edition 2022
Hello Northwood Elementary Families-
We have made it through our first full week of school. Students are getting acclimated to their new classroom and teacher. We are reintroducing the 3 Bs to Elyria Schools: Be Respectful, be responsible and be ready to learn. The Elyria Schools hope that a focus on the 3 Bs with consistent modeling of the expectations and school and classroom based Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports will create an atmosphere where students thrive academically and emotionally.
Arrival and Dismissal
We are making improvements to our arrival and dismissal procedures. I see more parents are getting into the car rider line and not walking up for drop-off and pick-up. I do realize there may be times when you may have to come into the office, or you may have a situation that requires attention. Please try to call the office, or message the teacher. I do need to reiterate that the car rider line is for pick-up and drop-off purposes only. Please do no park in the car rider line or hold extended conversations with school staff. Parents are welcome to message the teacher and make an appointment for a phone or in-person conference.
Directional arrows have been added to the ground, showing the direction of the one way traffic pattern. A stop sign has also been added to the parking lot area. It is located as you are leaving the parking lot on the elementary side, going towards the middle school and Rosealee.
Returning Student Updates
If you have not completed the Returning Student Update, please do so as soon as possible. You should have received a link from the district, or you can look on the Elyria Schools’ website.

Birthday Treats and other treats
Parents are welcome to send in store bought packaged food items this year. You are also welcome to send in other non-food items to celebrate birthdays. Balloons and flowers are discouraged because they can become a distraction and an issue at dismissal. Please contact your child’s teacher a couple days in advance, if you plan to send treats for the class.
