Returning Student Preschool Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year
Registration for students returning to Preschool will begin soon. Please review the information below to be prepared for next school year. Thank you!
All currently enrolled Preschoolers at EECV will receive a 2024-2025 School Year Intent Form on pink paper this week through backpack mail. We are asking that this form is returned by Friday, 1/19/24. This form will allow you to inform us on your plans for 2024-2025.
Students planning to remain in Preschool at EECV must re-register for next school year. Spaces will fill up quickly so once you receive the information, please do not delay. Registration paperwork will be sent home with your child based on your response to the 2024-2025 School Year Intent Form. Please return forms as quickly as possible to secure your child's preschool spot. You may also receive a call from school secretary, Mrs. Bruening, if we have any questions about the program placement for your child. Feel free to call the office at any time to discuss your 24-25 school year plans for your preschooler.
If your student is transitioning from Preschool to Kindergarten you will receive information regarding this transition and any steps you may need to take.
Students transitioning from Preschool to Kindergarten DO NOT need to complete new kindergarten registration. If your child is enrolled in Preschool at EECV, they are an enrolled student and do not need to complete Kindergarten registration. If you have any questions on this please call the office and speak to Mrs. Bruening.
Registration for NEW students (not currently enrolled at EECV) will begin in March. We look forward to continuing to serve your child next school year!
News from Nurse Packman
Early childhood is a time of rapid growth and development for your child’s body and mind, as well as their immune system. Keeping your child home when they are ill is an important step for their overall health and wellness for many reasons.
Fever is a symptom that can result from a variety of causes. A fever is a temperature of 100° or higher. Your child can return to school after they’ve been fever-free for 24-hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. There are many valid reasons to keep your child home from school for a full 24 hours after a fever breaks, including:
You don’t want to get other kids sick, and your child can still be contagious within 24 hours of a fever.
Your child is more likely to catch something else. Within 24 hours of a fever, your child’s immune system is weakened, and they are much more likely to catch other illnesses. This is why it can seem like your child is better for a couple of days, only to be sick again-they’ve caught something else.
Rest and recovery is crucial to feeling better. Even if they are feeling great, extra rest and recovery is critical in helping your child fully get over an illness. You don’t want them to come down with something else or relapse with what they already have.
Valentine's Day
Students will be permitted to bring Valentine cards for their classmates on February 14th.
Sometimes families also like to send in candy or a treat with the valentine. To be in line with our treat/celebration policy, these must be take home treats only. We encourage non-food items such as stickers, small containers of play-doh, temporary tattoos, crayons/coloring books, glow sticks, or small sealed bottles of bubbles. If you choose to send in a food item, only individually packaged food treats that can easily be sent home with students will be accepted. Food treats will not be eaten at school but will be sent home with classmates.
We are looking forward to a fun day of activities!
Reminder - Treats and Celebration Policy
This information is in our school handbook but as a reminder below is our treats and celebration policy.
We love to celebrate and recognize special occasions in our students’ lives. Sending in treats or items from home is not required or necessary; however, if you would like to send something in to celebrate an occasion, such as your child’s birthday, please keep the following in mind:
- We have many students with allergies, so be sure to discuss treats with the classroom teacher first. All treats must be pre-approved by the classroom teacher. No food sent in for birthdays/celebrations will be consumed at school. It will be sent home in backpacks.
- All food items sent in must be individually wrapped, pre-packaged, and include a list of ingredients. Again, no food sent in for birthdays/celebrations will be consumed at school. It will be sent home in backpacks.
- We encourage non-food items such as stickers, small containers of playdough or bubbles, temporary tattoos, glow sticks, or crayons and coloring books.
- NO balloons or large decorations will be permitted in the building.
Thank you for your support!
Creating Art in the Blue Room
Holiday crafts are behind us. January has us preparing for the EECV Family Art Show in March. This is where we give the children creative freedoms and will supply the materials to support where the students' imaginations go. In the Blue Room, we like to use materials such as colored sand, rice and pastas. We still use the old standbys like crayons, paints and markers; but when you use something different the children get really excited and create wonderful works of art. Be ready to be amazed when you walk the halls for the art show.
While we use art in our daily lesson plans as a form of fine motor exercises, the art show allows the children to exercise their imagination. The art is child led, we give them ideas and they will put it down as they see fit. The children will dictate to us what they are making and we will help them label their creations. Fine motor exercises may last 5 to 10 minutes, created works of art may take several days to complete.
I, for one, am excited to see what our little artists will create.
Different types of art the children will experiment with may include:
EECV's 3 BEs!
Be Responsible - Follow school rules and be safe.
Be Ready to Learn - Be a good listener.
