West Sound Tech Program and the Peninsula College Running Start Program Presentations
We will have presenters from the West Sound Tech Program and the Peninsula College Running Start Program coming to OCEAN on Monday (2/12) during the 9/10 Advisory at 10:30am. Presenters will provide information on their programs and answer questions for any 10th and 11th graders interested in participating in either program next year. Please encourage your 10th or 11th grader to join us if they are interested in learning more about these programs.
High School Juniors Planning for Post Graduation Plan
Does your high school junior need some assistance sorting out a post-graduation plan? Post-High School Planning is a series of five 1-hour sessions tailored to Juniors that will take place on Wednesdays at 12:05-1:05 at PTHS starting in March. Each student will work to identify an interest or verify the interest they are currently considering – job, apprenticeship, trade, certification, two- or four-year degrees – and then put together a plan to achieve that interest. Sessions will include a Career Panel of community professionals talking about their professions, research techniques to identify the right job or educational opportunity for them, and detailed information on how to fund the pursuit of your interest. The goal of the program is for each student to walk out of the room with the next steps required to make their interest a reality. Post-High School Planning dates are March 20, March, 27, April 17, May 1 and May 15. Your child can sign up by emailing the OCEAN School Counselor Emily Eldridge at eeldridge@ptschools.org or sign up at the main office. Instructors are former business leaders and Skillmation volunteers living in Port Townsend – follow these links to learn more about them – David Rinn and Norm Tonina
February Intersession
Intersession Sign Up
K-8 intersession sign up is now closed. High School students who need credit recovery or to finish up incomplete courses are invited to come to PTHS during the Intercession Break, scheduled for February 20-23 (Tuesday - Friday). This is an important opportunity to get students back on track who have previously failed courses that need to be completed for graduation. Students who need to make up failed courses from the first semester or who have previously failed courses that have not yet been completed are strongly encouraged to attend and get this work done. A PTHS teacher will be on site to support students as they work. School counselors, Ms. Eldridge, has been doing individual outreach to students and families regarding this opportunity. Parents may register their student for the Credit Recovery Intersession at PTHS by contacting Emily Eldridge, eeldridge@ptschools.org. Please do not pass up this opportunity if your student has credits to be made up!
There are no In person OCEAN classes February 26 for online learners that come in person.
