Hello HGSE Family!


Teachers are currently busy scheduling and conducting conferences. We would love to see everyone stop by and meet with teachers this week to celebrate successes and discuss how to make improvements! If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact the main office.


The Bookfair is officially open!! Be sure to stop by and shop while you are here for Parent Teacher Conferences this week!


Visitors- We wanted to remind our guests that visit during the day to remember to bring your ID to sign in each time you come by the school. If you are visiting for lunch, we ask that you only visit the cafeteria. We do not allow visitors to walk down hallways without an appointment. If you are here and would like to sign your child out of school early, you must request the sign out and dismissal from front office personnel. Teachers cannot sign children out from the cafeteria. If a visitor needs to use a restroom, please use the adult bathrooms located at the top of A hall which is the first hallway on the left.


Red Ribbon Week is coming up on October 23! We are looking forward to a fun week in support of saying no to Bullying and Illegal Substances!


A big shout out goes to our fifth grade students for excellent behavior and studies for the Westward Expansion Unit. They were able to take a quick field trip to York Intermediate School to collaborate with other YIS fifth graders and participate in the Westward Expansion simulation activities. A great time was had by all!


Sixth grade participated in a science filled fun day this past Friday for working hard this past nine weeks. First-fifth grade students are officially participating in individualized ELA and Math learning groups across the grade levels. Students and teachers are working hard while benefiting from specific and targeted instruction.

Oct 9-13- Fall Break for Students! No School

Oct 10-- YSD1 Board of Trustees Meeting

Oct 18- 2nd grade testing for CogAt/IOWA; Unity Day- Bullying Prevention- Wear Orange!

Oct 23-27- Red Ribbon Week- see flyer below

Oct 24- Student of the Month Celebration for Creativity- Invitation Only

Oct 24- PTO/SIC meeting at 2:45pm- Parents that attended the previous PTO/SIC meeting asked to try an earlier time to see if more parents could attend after pick up. So come on out! We would love to have you join us!

Oct 27- Birthday Lunch

11-3- YSD1 Band BBQ Fundraiser

11-7- Fall For Reading- more info to come

11-8- Early Release Day- Dismissal at 11:30

11-10- Veteran's Day Program- more info to come
