As we have closed out our 3rd week of school, students have done a great job of getting back into the swing of things for school. Progress reports will be going out and we encourage parents and students to monitor their grades and attendance as this can be done in Skyward.

All of our sports teams are well underway and are doing a great job. The first home football game will be this Thursday at 7 pm against Houston Kashmere and we will honor our Seniors. A general letter is attached to remind students and parents of proper policies and procedures for attending a game.

We are eagerly preparing and excited for the upcoming Colorado County Fair during the week of September 4th and concluding with the parade and fair on the 16th.

If you are interested in running for a class officer position, petitions can be picked up beginning next week on Monday in Rm. 14. Each grade level will vote on a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Reporter. You do not need to be a member of Student Council to run. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ferreri.

When you arrive at school, you must come directly in the building. You may not hang out in your vehicle. Also, please take care in the parking lot at the end of the day. We have witnessed and received complaints about students driving too fast as they leave the parking lot. Driving to school and parking on campus is a privilege and it can be revoked if need be. If you have not purchased your parking decal, please do so as soon as possible.

Just a reminder to not park inside the 30yard line in the parking lot so band can practice during their class period.

Auditions for the lead roles will be on Monday, August 28th @ 3:45 pm. These will be held in the theater. The fall production of Elf the Musical will be held Dec. 1st-3rd, more information to come later.

Attached below is a form for parents/guardians to purchase insurance in regards to student Chromebook. A form was sent home with all students on Wednesday 8/23.

Parents and Guardians, if your child is a returning student, please make sure you have completed the online reenrollment registration forms in Skyward.

The JV Rice Raiders won their season opener 41-0 over the Luling Eagles at the Swamp in Altair. Deodrick Fitzgerald scored 2 touchdowns in the first quarter and Hays Dingler kicked 2 PATs. AJ Jenkins added another touchdown in the 1st quarter, the PAT was no good, making the the score 20-0 at the start of the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter AJ Jenkins threw a TD pass to Isaiah Castillo, Dingler again made the PAT, making the score 27-0 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter Miguel Marquez scored a touchdown, Dingler once again made the PAT, making the score 34-0 going into the 4th quarter. Chase Diggs added a touchdown in the 4th quarter and another Dingler PAT made the final score 41-0.

Isaiah Castillo had an interception in the strong defensive effort. Gage Gayton and Lawson Floyd also played well on defense.

The offensive line led by Gabriel Barboza, Gage Gayton and Payton Engelbrecht also played well in the victory.
