It hard to believe that the end of the first quarter is upon us. Monday, October 31 marks the beginning of Q2. For many 6th graders, this means they will be changing elective classes. Please remind your 6th grade student to check their schedules over the weekend. Reminder announcements will be made at the start of the day on Monday and staff will available to assist.

Grading Calendar Deadlines/Timeline:

1) Friday, October 28 - End of 1st marking period

2) Wednesday, November 2nd - AGS Teacher Grades due at end of teacher workday

Report cards will be posted electronically in Parent Vue/Student Vue AFTER grades have been submitted. Report cards are NOT mailed 1st marking period.

A HUGE thank you to our AWESOME AGS students and staff for helping to raise over $200 for our 11th Annual Pink Out. The donations will be going directly to a local Fenton family that is being impacted by cancer.

Members of the AGS Student Leadership created a proposal to have a Halloween Spirit Day on Monday, October 31. For the first time AGS students and staff will be able to dress in costume (at school) on Halloween. Guidelines for appropriate dress/costumes were developed by student leaders in coordination with AGS Administration. The guidelines are outlined below:

• No Masks
• No props, accessories, fake weapons
• No lights or noise makers
• No fake blood or gore
• No inflatable costumes (must be able to sit in a desk LOL)
• Make up/hair dye/spray must be done at home

We are looking forward a little Halloween Spirit at AGS. Students that don't wish to wear a costume are encouraged to wear Halloween T Shirts, socks, etc. We appreciate you assistance in making sure that costumes are school appropriate.

It’s that time of year again for the ONLY, ONE and DONE, PTO fundraiser, similar to last year there will be NO SELLING of ANYTHING. We would like a No Fuss donation fundraiser to help support our students and staff at AGS from Friday, October 28 to Thanksgiving. Please consider donating anything that you can afford. ANY amount will be truly appreciated. We can’t do this without YOU!

There are prizes for donating!!!

For each $100 your child's SRT classroom raises, that SRT classroom will earn an entry to a prize drawing. At the end we will draw 3 classrooms at random to win the prizes.

If we reach the top goal of $7,200, there will be a SECRET school wide prize from Mr. Rettenmund and Mr. Seath. It’s top secret, so we won’t know until we reach that goal!

How do your funds help the PTO?

Our mission as a PTO is to support our students, teachers, administrators and staff by providing volunteers to events and sponsoring many different things such as: 8th Grade Dance, School Store, Beautification of the flower beds outside of the school and the center flower beds of Donaldson, teacher or school requests for classroom items, new books for the Library, help with field trip funding and snacks for the trips, Teacher Appreciation week, Assemblies for the school, 5th Grade Transition Day, Dinner for the teachers during conferences, Concession stands at indoor sporting events and much more.

We can not do this without your support. We truly appreciate your donation to help our students and staff at AGS. Thank you!

Mrs. Wissinger joined the AGS Family, this year, after teaching at State Road and North Road. She currently teaches MS Technology and is certified in Spanish and Science. Mrs. Wissinger has helped administration and her teaching colleagues over the past month by filling is as Principal/Assistant Principal and Spanish Teacher. She has also transformed the technology classroom into a fun and engaging place for our students to learn. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Wissinger on staff at AGS. Her positivity and passion for teaching is appreciated. Congratulations to Mrs. Wissinger!

The first ever shared student of the month goes to 8th graders Elyse Morgan and Kylee Rasch for their efforts in helping to make a AGS positive place to be. As members of the AGS Leadership Council, Elyse and Kylee created a proposal to have a Halloween Spirit Day at AGS. They met with AGS Administration to plan and set expectations for the upcoming Halloween Spirit Day. As a result, students and staff will be wearing costumes or Halloween apparel to school on Monday, October 31. Thank you Elyse and Kylee for making positive changes at AGS!

Congratulations to AGS 8th grader, Maryn Teddy on her overall 2nd place finish in the local spelling bee held at St. John's. Maryn competed against local students grades 7th - 9th and impressively represented AGS. She will now move on to the next level of competition. We wish Maryn the best of luck moving forward! Well done, Maryn! #AGSPROUD

AST is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. AGS Teachers are present and transportation is available for students residing within district. A light snack will also be provided.

Thank you to our generous students & families for donating to our Pink Out on Thursday - we raised just over $200! Also, AGS generously donated several boxes of items for Socktober, benefiting children in foster care.

Mrs. Kocks & the counselors finished working with the 8th graders this week on their Educational Development Plans (EDPs), in their Social Studies classes. Please ask them to share their EDPs with you. They will continue this work in high school.

The Fenton Rotary Club will be sponsoring their Angel Tree project for children in need at the holidays. The Rotary Club gathers items for each individual child and delivers these items to the home.

If applicable, complete the form at the link below by no later than Wednesday, November 23rd!

On the bottom of the Google form, applicants must list the place of employment for all adults living in the household. If this information is not listed, the form may be delayed or ignored. Each request will be reviewed and checked for accuracy and not automatically approved.

Packages will be delivered on the morning of Saturday, December 17th. Please ensure someone is home and Rotary has a phone number to contact prior to delivery of packages.

To practice and encourage the character strength of OPM with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.

On November 8, 2022 Fenton Area Public Schools will be asking voters to consider renewing a Sinking Fund of .8707 mills for a period of 10 years. This renewal will not raise taxes, and will keep the funding levels consistent for the next 10 years. Please remember a sinking fund is to fund infrastructure projects or repairs as they arise. Please consult our website for more information on the projects that have been funded in the last three years with our last sinking fund.
