Pep Rally
Callahan Middle School recently held a pep rally to celebrate the end of the first 9-week grading period and the conclusion of the fall sports season. During the event, students showed their support for the volleyball, football, and cheerleading teams, and also took part in fun relays while enjoying the music played by the outstanding band.
Red Ribbon Week
Bryceville Elementary School kicked off Red Ribbon Week by wearing red. They also had all students sign a "We Stand Against Bullying & Drugs" poster to help reinforce the Just Say No to Drugs theme. The students wore silly socks on Thursday and socked it to drugs. Friday saw students putting a cap on drugs by wearing their favorite cap. Monday, they teamed up against drugs in their favorite team apparel. Red Ribbon Week concluded with students showing good character. They dressed up in their favorite characters and had a parade around the school courtyard. Red Ribbon Week was a success!
PBIS Party
Callahan Middle School held grade-level PBIS reward parties for students with no discipline referrals. Students enjoyed popcorn and drinks. Various games were available to play, including cornhole, spike ball, team-building exercises, and even pumpkin chunkin' with giant slingshots!
Chemical Changes
Mrs. Russell’s Science students enjoyed Halloween by experimenting with Chemical Changes. The students each had a role…Bottle Collector, Balloon Designer, Frankie the Funnel, Wicked Witch and the Magician. Once the chemical change occurred, the students explored how the balloon inflated and felt how cold the bottle turned.
Mathematical Pumpkins
4th graders in Mrs. Page’s class at Emma Love worked in Mathematical pumpkins! Students worked on various multiplication and division problems that were printed on orange strips. Then, they crafted their strips together to make 3-dimensional pumpkins!
Characters
Faculty, staff, and students of Emma Love Hardee dressed in various book character costumes for Halloween! We saw some super creative costumes!
Toy Collection
During October, Yulee Middle School's 1st-period classes collected new stuffed animals for local Nassau County Law Enforcement. Law enforcement officers will give these new treasures to children when police are needed at a scene for any reason. These animals will help provide comfort and care to children all over our community.
The Top Classroom Collectors were:
Ms. Koenig's 8th grade 1st Period Civics class and Mr. Taylor's 6th grade English Language Arts Class.

Way to go, Yulee Middle School; collectively, they collected 248 brand-new stuffed animals.
Green and Gold School Color Spirit Day!
Friends of Fernandina Aviation
Friends of Fernandina Aviation group visited Mrs. Haynes' 6th-grade science classes at Fernandina Beach Middle to teach the students about the science behind aviation. The students learned about thrust, weight, lift, and drag. The FOFA speakers did demonstrations to help the students understand these concepts.
