50/50 Fundraiser
A huge thank you to our school community for their tremendous support of our very first 50/50 fundraiser! Our grand prize draw took place prior to the Christmas break and was shared live on Twitter! A big congratulations goes out to Sara Bassan Whitten of Paradise who was our grand prize winner of just over $12000! Also, congratulations to our early bird prize winner Julie Avery, who was the winner of our Growlers Suite. Again, thank you to our students, staff and school community for all of their efforts in making this such a successful fundraiser for our school.
Cafeteria Service
Our cafeteria service will resume on Friday, January 5th.
For students remaining on property for lunch, they are reminded to pack snacks and a lunch until our cafeteria reopens at the end of the week.
Upcoming Professional Learning
Our next professional learning day for teachers will take place on Wednesday, February 7th. There will be no school for students on this day. A reminder to families that there will also be two PL days scheduled for March 2024. These have been tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 1st and Friday, March 22nd. Once final approval has been provided by NL Schools we will notify families.
Chromebooks
Students are reminded to take proper care of Chromebooks and Chromebook chargers. A reminder to students and our families that requests for Chromebook repairs may not always be granted by the school district. Also, as repairs occur outside of our building, students may be without a Chromebook for a period of time while repairs take place.
Students are also encouraged to charge Chromebooks prior to coming to school each day or to carry their chargers with them. Use of school chargers/chromebooks are permitted, however, if items are not returned or are returned with damage, replacement costs may be applied.
French Immersion
Information regarding registration for our Late French Immersion program will be shared with families in the coming weeks. If families of our current grade 6 students have any questions regarding our Late French Immersion Program, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school.
Weather Related Closures
Our winter weather seems to have arrived and with it possible weather related closures. In the event that schools within the metro region are closed due to inclement weather, a message will be sent to families through our school messenger system and will also be posted to our twitter feed. Information regarding closures will also be posted to the NLESD website.
Cell Phones
As we head back to school after our break, students are reminded that cell phones are to be kept in your locker during the school day. Students who leave property at lunch are permitted to take their cell phones with them when leaving school grounds.
In order to continue to encourage responsible digital citizens and to create a safe and positive online environment for our children, families are encouraged to review the Social Media poster attached for tips and resources.
