~Welcome to Week 1~
School is SESSION!
Hello CAS Families!
We are kicking off this week with the return of our CAS scholars. Thank you for all our families who came to our Open House last Thursday. On Monday + Tuesday, we will welcome our grades 1-8. Wednesday our Kindergarteners will start their school year! During the first couple days we will be reviewing our CAS culture expectations, class schedules and school-wide incentives/celebrations. Towards the end of the week, we will build in our ELA & Math curriculums. 4th grade will have their iReady diagnostic assessment held on Thursday 8/25 K-3 will have their iReady diagnostic assessment the following week. This assessment helps us to place scholars into target skill groups which will accelerate their learning!
Cuyahoga county is considered on level RED for covid exposure + positive cases, this means that all staff and scholars must wear a mask while in the school building.
As we enter into week 1, here is our upcoming news and a few reminders.
Upcoming news:
Curriculum begins
- We will be launching our Ready Math & KIPP Wheatley curriculum. We have used both last year and also during our remote learning so the format of the lesson should seem familiar.
- The curriculum taught to our scholars has been designed to be at grade level. We fundamentally believe that grade level instruction will ultimately allow proficiency and success in a competitive world.
- We will have acceleration blocks that will provide scholars with personalized instruction based on the foundational and prerequisite skills necessary to access grade level work.
- Stay tuned for HW with instructions on how to complete. Scholars should have little to no help to complete. If you are noticing they need a lot of help, please contact your scholar's teacher.
