Junior ACT March 2
The Pre-ACT and ACT will be held at University School, and admission to test will be at the front of the building. Be prepared to wait outdoors until you are admitted, and please do not bring unnecessary gear (backpacks, purses, etc.) to the exam site. Phones and smartwatches will not be allowed in the testing rooms. PLEASE BRING A PHOTO ID.
February 17 and March 2 will be Asynchronous days for High School Students. Students who are testing will be dismissed to leave school at the end of the exam so please make transportation plans.
All students are pre-registered for the exam. Sophomores please plan to arrive by 7:45am on February 17, and Juniors please plan to arrive by 7:45am on March 2. School attendance will be taken at check in. Students who receive special accommodations for testing will be contacted individually for arranged testing times and locations.
Students will be required to have a temperature check, respond to a short health survey, and wear a mask in order to be admitted to the building. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ATTEND Pre-ACT/ACT TESTING IF YOU ARE NOT WELL, HAVE ANY COVID SYMPTOMS, HAVE HAD POTENTIAL COVID EXPOSURE, OR ARE UNDER QUARANTINE.
You will need to bring all necessary supplies (#2 pencils and calculators, etc.) as indicated on the ACT website https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-day.html (Links to an external site.). Testing materials will not be supplied and cannot be shared.
MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED THROUGHOUT THE EXAM. YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A MASK, AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR THE MASK FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE EXAM.
We are working diligently to ensure that we are able to hold these exams safely and not have our sites cancelled. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Look forward to seeing some of your smiling faces covered with a mask! 😷

Inclement Weather Policy
University School will close if Johnson City Schools close for inclement weather. University School will also close for inclement weather if ETSU closes. We will not make an announcement over the media due to the fact that saying University School will be closed is confusing to ETSU students. Instead we ask that students and parents/guardians be aware that we will close the school if Johnson City schools close. Some students live in areas where the weather may be worse than it is in town. If University School is open, but road conditions between your home and the school are dangerous, please do not put yourself at risk by attempting to drive to school. Call the office and inform us of your circumstances. On inclement weather days when Johnson City Schools are not regularly scheduled, announcements will be made through the media.

School Pictures
For those of you who have chosen to send in a portrait of your child rather than have pictures taken at the school, please follow these steps.
- Take a current head and shoulder picture of your child.
- A solid background is preferable, but not a requirement.
- You may use either a phone or a camera.
- Your picture must be in a jpeg format.
- Email your picture to hammondse@etsu.edu.
- You may also drop off a copy of the picture to the office to put in my box, but I prefer email.
In addition, if you have any other pictures of your child that you would like to share, we would appreciate it. Some of the pictures we are needing include sibling photos, snow pictures, pet pictures, online learning pictures, job pictures, hobby/outdoor activities pictures, sports related pictures. Again, we need all of these pictures to be in jpeg format.
Please email these pictures to Mrs. Hammonds if you are willing to share.
We appreciate your help.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Evelyn Hammonds by using the email listed above.
Bring Your Own Device (Grades 9-12)
Grade 9-12 may bring their own devices to use at school. In order to do so, students will need to bring a signed copy of the BYOD Policy (see link below) and their device to school on Monday or Thursday (their first day back in person). Dr. Preswood will set up devices daily from 12:00-1:00 in room 216.
