LHS OBOB Team - Congratulations!
On 3/12/23, LHS’s OBOB team (aptly named Overbooked), competed at the Regional Tournament hosted at Franklin High School. They won it, earning one of just nine bids to the State Championships in Salem next month.
LHS OBOB Overbooked Team:
- Maya Naik
- Ceci Hahn
- Violet Lempert
- Grace Kriwanek
Many thanks to Ms. Bok, who was instrumental in helping the OBOB program get off of the ground at LHS — organizing space for practices and school competitions, finding volunteers within the staff to help out, and generally supporting the kids (including by attending the tournament yesterday on her day off).
Team Overbooked competed against teams from across the Portland Metro area and earned the number 1 seed after morning pool play by accumulating the most points, despite a narrow loss to Jesuit (38-37) in one of four preliminary “battles”.
In the afternoon knock-out rounds, Lakeridge bested teams from Alliance Charter Academy and Grant High School to set up a rematch with Jesuit in the Regional final. Both teams were perfect until the very last two questions, then Jesuit stumbled and Lakeridge stole to seal a ten point victory, 45-35. Overbooked answered every single question correctly in the final round.
