OMS Winter Sports Tripleheader

OMS winter sports teams took over the SHS Gym on Wednesday, January 31st. OMS Wrestling had a meet against Taunton and OMS Basketball played games against Canton. The OMS Dance Team performed during the Girls basketball game. Both Girls and Boys Basketball teams won their games against Canton! Great job to all of our student athletes!

Wrestling

Judge Kaplanes Visits OMS

Today, Judge Thomas S. Kaplanes, Associate Justice of Boston Municipal Court, gave a wonderful presentation to the OMS eighth graders! Judge Kaplanes discussed the judicial branch, rights of citizens, civil v. criminal trials, jury duty, and court proceedings. In Grade 8, all students take U.S. Government and Civics. Students were engaged throughout Judge Kaplanes' presentation as they answered questions about the judicial branch of government and students had the opportunity to ask him questions.

Team Meetings

During the school year, we hold team meetings to provide reminders to students about academic and behavior expectations. Over the last two weeks, school counselors and administrators held team meetings in the classrooms by visiting one team each day. They reminded students how they can view their trimester grades and final grades, grade requirements to avoid summer school, attendance and tardiness expectations, and behavior expectations in school. In Grade 8, they reviewed information regarding high school applications for students who applied to other schools and the SHS course selection process.

OMS Faculty Bowling

Throughout the year, our OMS faculty get together outside of school for some bonding. It's a great opportunity for faculty to connect, relax, have fun, and build some positive staff culture. In January, some of our faculty went bowling. Teams became very competitive in both bowling and the team outfit competition. Thank you to Ms. Fleming for organizing the event!
