A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Luther Burbank Families,
Our final weeks of school are shaping up to be incredibly busy and jam-packed with special activities. This week, our LBMS musicians will lend their musicality during our Memorial Day Assembly on Thursday, on Friday our 7th and 8th grade band and wind ensemble will compete at the Great East Music Festival, and on Monday our musicians will represent LBMS and contribute during Lancaster’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.
This Thursday's whole school Memorial Day assembly will provide us with an opportunity to remember all those service men and women who have sacrificed their lives on behalf of our nation. The assembly will feature our middle school concert band and chorus, as well as 8th grade student speakers who will share meaningful poems and essays, including Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address.” The Memorial Day assembly enables us to stop and reflect on the solemnity of the meaning of Memorial Day. So many have given of themselves for our freedom and it is important for us to remember their service with humility and gratitude.
Finally, please take some time to complete our end-of-year LBMS School Council Parent Survey that was sent via email to families today. At the end of each school year we take time to reflect, making note of things we did well and identifying areas where we wish to make improvements. Feedback from parents, students, and staff helps us gain a broader perspective of our collective needs. Your feedback is a very important part of this process.
With gratitude,
Laura
