December Lunch Menu
Are you frustrated by the length of our carline? We understand! Here are three tips to help reduce the wait time during morning and afternoon carlines.
#1 – Please move your car forward. We constantly remind you to do this because many cars leave unnecessary gaps between themselves and the vehicle in front of them. By eliminating these spaces, we can fit more cars into the carline and make it move faster. It's a simple concept, really. Unfortunately, we've encountered situations where parents refuse to move because their child is still working on homework or eating breakfast, or they simply don't want their child to walk a few extra feet. Others are distracted by their phones or electronic devices and only start paying attention after we've shouted multiple times. These are just a few examples of the challenges we face on a daily basis.
#2 – Especially in the mornings, please ensure your child is prepared to exit the car. They should have their belongings ready and be able to leave the car as soon as they reach the back of the building. Instead of having to open the trunk and gather their things, they could have their bags and lunch on their laps beforehand. Carpooling parents should wait until they reach the very front of the line before stopping to load up, making it easier for other cars to move around them.
#3 – Arriving too early to pick up your children from the club does not expedite the line. In fact, it has the opposite effect. Some parents claim their children do not have club activities, when in fact they do, which holds up the line for parents whose children are ready to be picked up. As parents with children in club wait, the line either moves very slowly or not at all. We have asked parents to enter the line at 3:40, the designated end time for clubs. Coming before this time blocks the entrance for parents picking up early. Additionally, parking and waiting in a line too early does not help move the line along. We understand that time can be tricky, but the slight inconvenience of looping back around is much better than bringing the line to a complete halt.

THIS WEEK IN GRADES K-6
KINDERGARTEN
Bradley
Last week Kindergarten went on their first field trip to the Crayola Experience! Kindergarten had a lot of fun learning how crayons are made, changing the physical properties of matter by Students concluded this week by thinking of who and what they were most thankful for and writing them on their turkey craft.
FIRST
Keene
First Grade had a wonderful week before Thanksgiving Break! We had our annual First Grade Feast and the students loved being able to have lunch with their classmates and families! Thank you to every parent who donated food and/or their time to this event!
We continued our writing of an informative essay about Outer Space and Pumpkins! We are learning how to start our essays with a topic sentence, adding details and a sense of closure.
During Reading, we learned about themes, topic and central ideas, and comparing and contrasting different topics, as well as two characters in a story. We had a visit from Mr. Singleton during our Reading block and the students loved showing him what we have learned!
We ended our unit on determining true and false equations in Math and started learning how to count by 1's, 2's and 5's to 120! The students practiced filling in a 120 chart and learned a few songs to help them along the way!
We started our new Big Idea in Science, learning about Earth's structures and the different things that can be found on Earth's surface.
We are looking forward to a restful Thanksgiving break and coming back to finish out the year strong!
Don't forget to pay and sign your permission slips for our Gatorland field trip on December 15th!

SECOND
Harber
This week in second grade, students are working collaboratively to investigate and observe forces in motion. Students are working together to see how friction affects the movement of cars by trying to use toy cars on multiple surfaces. They are investigating direction changes and speed by creating a no-contact magnetic maze, and by making changes to a previously built marble run. They are using accountable talk sentence starters to learn more about how their group members are perceiving certain skills.
THIRD
Martin
Mr. Martin's class is doing many great things. We're working through elements of a drama and we have many interesting projects getting completed. The Students performed a reader's theater. The students also used their knowledge of multiplication to make choices about how to manage a zoo. In Math we learned about how to measure and classify angles. Finally we learned about the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade's history and created some floats for our grade level parade.
FOURTH
Parlewicz
This week in 4th grade we went to St. Augustine to learn about Florida State history. Students got to see the Castillo de San Marcos, learn about real pirates, and visit the Old Jail! They also had time to walk around and explore the historic district. It was such a fun day and the students loved hearing a lot of interesting stories about St. Augustine!

Computer Science- Sevim
Embarking on a digital journey, our computer science classes are abuzz with the enthusiasm of young learners. In the Kindergarten realm, our little ones are making remarkable strides in improving their mouse skills, a foundational step that sets the stage for their technological exploration. Through engaging activities and interactive learning, these students are not just navigating screens but also developing essential motor skills crucial for their digital future.
In the first grade, students are channeling their efforts into mastering keyboarding, navigating the keyboard to find letters with growing confidence. The click-clack of keys becomes a symphony of progress as they work diligently to enhance their proficiency. Meanwhile, students in grades 2 through 5 are fully immersed in the world of coding, unraveling the mysteries of algorithms and commands. This coding journey not only hones their technical prowess but also fosters problem-solving skills and creativity. As they navigate the challenges and joys of technology, our goal is to instill a love for learning and empower each student to thrive in the dynamic landscape of the digital age. The journey continues, filled with discovery and achievement.
