In Beyond the ER: The Road to LGBTQ+ Health Equity, MCH student Olivia Sullivan shares how policy could improve healthcare outcomes for the LGBTQ+ population.

This survey evaluated how parents and children have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Results show about ¼ of parents had a decrease in mental health and 14% of children declined in behavioral health since March 2020. Additionally, about 10% of families reported food insecurity since March 2020.

The Phoenix Learning Xchange (PLX) is an interactive, multidisciplinary, non-credit certificate program from the Department of Human Services and the UMN’s Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare. It’s designed for those who support and make vital decisions regarding youth/adolescents involved in systems such as child welfare or juvenile justice. Participants will broaden their knowledge of the development, challenges, positive engagement, and wellbeing of youth and adolescents involved in child welfare and other systems. The program begins October 30, and involves in-depth, interdisciplinary learning over an extended period of time. Visit here to learn more about the training components, eligibility, and dates.

This paper addresses how health centers, other health system providers, and housing partners can center considerations of equity in their shared work to address the needs of people most impacted by structural racism and its impact on health and social determinants of health, including Black people, people of color, and Indigenous people.
