Principal's Report
Hellllllo Families! WELCOME TO 2023!! We're off and running into the new year! I hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing winter break. We are excited for a new year, and continue to be grateful for all of you wonderful people who make our Lion Pride a great place!
Winter Assessments
- Over the next few weeks, our students will be engaged in our winter assessments. These data points will be reviewed and our teachers will begin planning instructionally based on our student needs. Now is a great time to begin talking about growth and strengths with your students.
L&C Advisory Council
- We’re looking for families, community members, students, and champions of L&C to help be the pulse of our school. The hope is that as a team, we'd meet two times this year to survey the needs within our school community and neighborhood. Please fill out this form if interested or forward it to someone who might be interested. https://forms.gle/MPJFqUT3dzLruFFA8
If there is anything I can help with, please reach out to the office or email me at lhoheisel160@mygfschools.org. Take care, be safe, and stay warm!
Mr. Hoheisel

Setting a Pattern of Rules and Consequences
Kids are less likely to use alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs if their parents have established a
pattern of setting clear rules and consequences for breaking those rules. This applies to no-use
rules about tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs — as well as bedtimes and homework. Have clear
expectations for behavior, monitor your child, and implement appropriate consequences. In
setting these rules, be sure you discuss your rules and expectations in advance and follow
through with the consequences you’ve set.
Don’t forget to acknowledge times when your child follows the rules! Parents who have a warm
relationship with their children while maintaining rules for behavior are teaching their children
self-discipline. Parents who have rules that are too harsh or no rules at all are more likely to
have children who are at greater risk for drug-taking behavior.
