Munn School Principal Update
June 21, 2024
Greetings Munn Families,
My sincerest THANK YOU for allowing us the privilege to educate your children this school year!! Munn School is a great place to learn and grow and each of our students has done much of that this year. My suggestion for the summer is to read and explore the outdoors. We live in one of the most beautiful areas of the world and there is so much to read and explore about.
Summer Reading:
A note below from our librarian, Ms. Curtis
As we approach the summer break, I wanted to share some fun ideas to keep your children engaged with reading. Here are some suggestions to make reading a special and enjoyable experience for your family:
- Read to and with your children: Spend time reading aloud to your kids, even if they can read on their own.
- Bedtime read-alouds: Establish a bedtime routine that includes reading a story together.
- Pass-the-book shared reading: Have each family member take turns reading a page or chapter of a book.
- Visit your local public library: Explore new books and participate in library programs.
- Participate in summer reading challenges: Set reading goals and celebrate achievements together.
Remember, letting your children choose what they want to read can make a big difference in their engagement. If they need some inspiration, our elementary librarians have created printable lists of books for each grade level.
You can access these lists: Summer Reading - Bernabi Elementary School - LibGuides at Monroe 2 Orleans BOCES (monroe2boces.org)
Report Cards.
A reminder that report cards go live in the parent portal today at noon! Please make sure you know how to log into your child’s Infinite Campus backpack, which is found within the Infinite Campus parent portal, accessible at this link: https://ic.spencerportschools.org/campus/portal/parents/spencerport.jsp If you have any questions about your Infinite Campus account, please contact Mr. Phil Koyoumjian at 349-5152.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer and I look forward to another great year ahead!
Summer CIP work continues:
A reminder that many projects within our current Capital Improvement Project will continue into the summer months ahead. This includes ongoing work at Munn School with a brand-new roof and playground. The Munn campus will be closed effective June 26-August 23, 2024
Fond farewells:
As you may already know, several staff members are retiring. Please join me in wishing them all a fond farewell!
· Mrs. DiCicco has been a long time Munn educator who has taught at the primary and intermediate levels. She is known for her love of teaching reading and caring deeply for students, families and colleagues
· Mrs. Ingerick is a talented Art teacher who has inspired students of all abilities by sharing her passion of exploring the artist in each of us. She is best remembered for her creativity and for sharing her joy for the Arts
· Mrs. Wagner has been the Cook Manager at Munn School for many years. Her kindness and care are evident in all she has done for students, families and staff.
Next Year:
Our annual summer mailing (teacher assignments) will leave the district on Friday, August 23. Thank you in advance for the input provided by parents and guardians. Student placement, development of balanced classes and teacher assignment is a complex and multi-step process. Thank you in advance for understanding that once mailed, student classroom assignments cannot be changed
- To get a head start on school supplies, you can find all grade level supply lists on our website under “Parent/Student Resources” here: https://Munn.spencerportschools.org/ We will also send supply lists home in our summer mailing, which again, is scheduled to leave all elementary buildings on Friday, August 23.
Thank you for partnering with Munn School in the education of your child (ren). Students and staff and families are ready to embark on a wonderful summer of reading and outdoor FUN. We will be ready to welcome you back in September!
Happy Summer😊

Munn School Principal
