FIRE TAKE THE CUP!
WC 12th June 2023
Congratulations!
We currently have some technical issues which means we unable to share photographs with you but as soon as this is fixed we will share these with you.
We are already thinking about how we can improve The Bardwell Games for next year (Age restrictions on the 'Dad's' race!?) but need your input please. Complete this short form to tell us what you thought about Sports Day.
Many thanks and enjoy another sunny week,
Mrs B
Thank you to The PTA
Thank you again to all our wonderful PTA helpers for setting up, arranging and selling refreshments at our school sports day. The PTA raised just over £100. Thank you for all your donations at this event including ice creams from the Dun Cow.
Congratulations to Eloise for being on this month's cover of the Bardwell Village News. Your child may have chosen to come home with an A5 template for their chance to create a masterpiece to be featured on the front cover of the village news! These can be colourful seasonal pictures that can be used by the editors throughout the year in our village magazine.
Watch out for your ‘Treasure-hunt Map’ next week for our village fete. The children can come along to the playing field ( near the Grumpy Goat) and find all the letters around the field and collect a prize at our stall. This is another big village event where the profits are shared between the school, church and the bardwell playing field association. Please come along and support your PTA at this event. There are fun games and races and an annual tug of war- Saturday 24th June- see you there!
Thank you for supporting your PTA
THE CARVIVAL OF BRITISH ANIMALS
What will you be? Let us know by Friday 23rd June
As always, we'd rather a home made, sustainable costume that the children have been involved in making. We will be making masks in school as part of our design and technology lessons. Teachers will be asking the children this week which animal they will be so that we can start to plan masks as part of our Design and Technology lessons. Damson Class parents please let Mr Boyd know as little people often change their minds!
School Photographs
We had thought that our photographer gave out code slips on the day of the photography as they usually would, but it appears this is not the case. We will therefore be distributing your child's photo codes to you as soon as we have them.
Apologies for any confusion caused.
The Y6 leavers photo will be submitted to the East Anglian Daily Times and published on 14th July.

Summer born children – updated DfE guidance
This guidance sets out information about requests to delay the admission of summer born children to the Reception Year. It also includes guidance on summer born children transferring from primary to secondary school.
The guidance for local authorities and own admission authority schools is now found in a separate link to the guidance for parents.
Please contact the Admissions Team for any further advice.
NB: The guidance applies if your child is taught in a different year group to their chronological age, i.e. if your child will be in Y5 in September but would be in Y6 according to their birthdate, you will need to apply for a secondary school place in the normal admissions round.

We have been contacted by The AIM Group who deliver Free online Level 2 Accredited Courses to Parents to help better understand some key issues around young people's mental health and wellbeing, along with a range of other qualifications that may help with developing your own careers.
Here's some of the most popular subjects available:
- Understanding Autism (learn how individuals process sensory information, understand characteristics, understand conditions, learn how speech, language and communication differ in people with Autism)

You can do as many as you like, however you can just do one at a time.
If you are interested in undertaking one of these Free Online courses or would like further information, then please complete the following link ASAP. This will then allow The AIM Group to contact you to discuss and get you started on your chosen course:

Suffolk Parent Carer Forum
We are writing to you today to introduce ourselves. We are Suffolk Parent Carer Forum - SPCF, the recognised parent carer forum for Suffolk. You can find out more about us on our website: www.suffolkpcf.co.uk but we wanted to give you a brief explanation about who we are and what we do for the families of children or young people with special, additional need and/or disabilities including mental health (SEND &/or MH).
We are a Suffolk based charity made up of parent carers with lived experience who have come together so that we can help shape the provisions and services our children and young people access. We do this through participation, consultation and co-production alongside Suffolk County Council, Suffolk & North East Essex Integrated Care Board, Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care Board and the Department for Education.
Our aims are:
- To be the strategic consultative body within Suffolk and represent the voices of families with children and young people with SEND &/or MH.
- Providing a liaison point for Statutory and Voluntary Agencies within Suffolk, by using Experts by Experience to work in co-production with local services.
- To consult with and inform our membership with a view to ensuring that all children and young people in Suffolk with SEND &/or MH meet their full potential and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Attached you will find our leaflets so that you are able to share virtually with any families that you feel may benefit and if you would like any paper copies, just let us know and we can send some via post.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help.
Kind regards,

Is My Child Too Ill for School? - NHS advice
We are very keen to have children attending school if they are well enough. Please have a look at this NHS advice if you are unsure.
Absence reporting process - including current NHS COVID isolation guidance
If your child is absent from school please ring into the school office giving the reason for the absence ('unwell' is not sufficient), please do not email for absence. If you need to, leave a voicemail.
The School must be notified by the parent/carer of the absent pupil on the first day of absence AND on every day of absence thereafter, before the register is closed. If a telephone call is not received, the school will contact parents/carers directly.
Please see the Attendance Policy for more information.
If you suspect or know that your child has COVID, the NHS guidance for children now states:
"If a child or young person aged 18 or under tests positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days. This starts from the day after they did the test.
Children and young people tend to be infectious to others for less time than adults. If they’re well and do not have a temperature after 3 days, there’s a much lower risk that they’ll pass on COVID-19 to others."
Allergy Awareness
We are an allergy aware school and would like to remind all families that there may be pupils in school with a peanut allergy. If a child with a peanut allergy comes into contact with peanuts, or with a pupil who has eaten peanuts, then this could lead to an anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction to a trigger such as an allergy.
Because of this the school cannot accept products containing peanuts to be provided in lunch boxes or for eating at other times.
SCC information for Cost of Living Support
Suffolk County Council has asked us to share with families their updated 'Cost Of Living Support' information.
