A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
The first two weeks of school have flown by. Our students and staff have been working hard at
establishing positive relationships, building routines, and learning how to be prepared to learn.
As we enter week three, we will begin benchmark testing for all students K-6. This testing will
take place within the classroom and will help us make educational decisions about how to
best support your child’s learning at Disney.
We must all continue to practice patience as we drop-off and pick-up students at Disney
Elementary. Please continue to practice kindness, patience, and caution while following our parking lot procedures. Please do not arrive at Disney before 3:15 p.m. to pick up your student. School dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. and oftentimes our students are still utilizing the playground and blacktop located in the north parking lot until 3:15 p.m. For the safety of our students, please be respectful of our school hours and avoid arriving before 3:15 p.m. for pickup.
A few reminders:
- For a variety of reasons a child may need a change of clothes at school. We encourage parents to keep a spare outfit in their child's backpack in case of an accident. This will help prevent a call home for a change of clothes.
- The delivery of food and beverages from outside vendors or fast-food establishments for a students's breakfast or lunch meal are NOT allowed. All meals are to be provided by either our food service program or prepared at home and sent with your student.
- Due to student food allergies, Birthday Treats are not allowed to be brought in and shared with classmates. Students are welcome to bring in a non-food birthday treat to share.
I would like to thank the entire Disney Community for a great start to the 23-24 school year!
With Disney Pride,
Mrs. Porter
Principal

Student Council Officer Elections
We are so proud of all our 5th and 6th grade students who ran for student council leadership positions. On Friday these students spoke in front of their peers indicating their desire to be a Disney student leader and they all did a fantastic job! We would like to take a moment to again, congratulate all of the brave boys and girls who stood in front of their peers. Thank you for all of the time and dedication you put into your campaign. You are true leaders & we hope you continue to be courageous and positive in all you do.
Second Step
As you know, best practice shows that students who feel safe and secure are better prepared to engage in their learning. Therefore, we are excited to continue to use Second Step in our K-8 classes beginning this week to further strengthen our commitment to social and emotional learning.
Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with various social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons will build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Disney to support our students.
Please find the K-6 links below to learn more about your child will be learning.

Health Guidance for Going to School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students.
Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate.
We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses.

Free & Reduced Meals
As you may have heard, all students in Fraser Public Schools are eligible to receive free meals this school year. Every student enrolled in our district can receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE to your household each day.
Meals Information
Breakfast and lunch menus for the first week of school and the month of September are linked below. Elementary Schools will have a limited variety of a la carte items to purchase using CASH ONLY. All students can choose to purchase an additional breakfast or lunch at the full paid student price.
Education Benefits Form
Even though meals are free for everyone, it is still important for your household to complete an Education Benefits Form, which can be found online on the Family Portal website. This form is critical in determining the amount of money that our district receives from a variety of state and federal supplemental programs. It could also help your family qualify for additional benefits.
We are asking that you please complete and submit the Education Benefits Form as soon as possible. All information on the report submitted is confidential, and it should take only a few minutes to complete.
Menus for lunch and breakfast items do not need to be turned in this year. Teachers will go over the lunch room procedures with students the first day of school.
