OTSEGO LOCAL SCHOOLS
Superintendent's Weekly Update - August 21st
I hope everyone had a safe and healthy week.
School starts Monday! We are excited to start the school year! Previous emails and restart information can be found by CLICKING HERE
We must continue to work together for our students! This year is going to be different. Our classrooms, lessons, and environment will not be what we are used to
Important Items:
- Self assess your students before they get on the bus or get dropped off
- Make sure your child has a mask before they get on the bus or enter the buildings.
- Please make sure you have updated phone numbers in PowerSchool and you answer the school's number when we call. I would add 419-823-4381 in your contacts. We are hoping this doesn't happen but we may have to call you after hours for quarantine purposes.
- If we do have to call you and talk quarantine rules, it is important that we all follow the rules for the safety of the community. It is our job to keep the community spread low as it is currently.
- We can only control what we are doing on campus. Its up to all of us what we do outside of school hours. Please continue practicing social distancing and wearing masks outside of the school. This will give us the best chance to have a prolonged school year on campus!
Self Assessing Symptoms - This is very important this year. If your student is sick, please do not send them to school. We will be using the following flow chart this year. Please review this flow chart HERE
Parents need to conduct a wellness check every morning.
- Conduct a student wellness check including temperature prior to sending a student to school. Students with temperatures at or over 100°F (not controlled by medication) must stay home.
- Provide a mask for your student to wear daily.
Transportation:
Online Bus Route Information - https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=OLSD3GH6PNQOH
This site will identify the schools assigned to your residential address, as well as a bus number, designated stop, pick-up and drop-off time.
Pick-up and Drop-off
· Please ensure your child is at the bus stop at least five (5) minutes before the scheduled time to ensure they are there when the bus arrives.
· Pick-up and drop-off times may need to be adjusted during the beginning weeks of school and will become more consistent for the remainder of the year.
· Times posted on this site reflect the expected time the bus should depart during good weather.
· Inclement weather or traffic congestion may cause the route to run later than the posted time.
· The school bus is on a tight schedule so that we can deliver students to all school levels on time.
Instructions for Navigating this Site:
1. No student information is available on Infofinder I.
2. Enter your street address (including house number). This is the only required field. You might need to add a hyphen in the street name (ex. Long-Judson Rd.).

Normally we collect lunch money at back to school days and this helps a lot for the first couple of weeks. Please send money with your children on the first day of school or add money to their accounts online. Online instructions can be found HERE
Masks:
Reminder- Masks are mandated on campus. Please be prepared to send a mask with each of your students every day. We will have extras on our buses and in the office. We will provide an Otsego Mask for every student. They will get it on the first day. The mask policy is both an Otsego Policy and a State of Ohio mandate.
Spectators at Athletic Events
The State of Ohio issued guidance and mandates for our athletic programs this week. We are working through all of the restrictions and determining our capacities for soccer, football, and volleyball. Coaches and Mr. Dubler will communicate with parents and students on the number of tickets that they will be allowed to have. Unfortunately, the events will be limited to the parents/families that are participating in the event.
We are limited to 15% of our capacity and spectators will be REQUIRED to have a mask on inside and out. It is not ideal but we have to remember it is out our student-athletes and giving them a chance to compete. We will live stream all events that we can for everyone else to watch. Links will be emailed/tweeted out and will always be accessible at www.otsegoknights.org
It is going to be very important that all parent spectators follow all of the guidelines that we share with you next week. Everyone will have to have a mask and social distance by 6ft. We will have very strict seating arrangements for our venues. The State of Ohio is hiring people to audit venues to make sure everyone is following the rules and they will shut our events down if we aren't following the rules. Masking and distancing are non-negotiables at the events. Each school will have compliance officers at the events making sure the rules are being followed. Again, this gives our athletes a chance to play, so please do not jeopardize their opportunity because of spectator misconduct. We are all in this together!
Go Knights!
