Moore Street School
Week of January 8, 2024
Beginning of 2nd Semester!!!
Today marks the beginning of the 1st full week of 2nd semester. It is hard to believe we are halfway through the school year! The most important thing is to keep moving forward. This is not the time to relax or get too comfortable. There is too much at stake!!! As always it takes a collaborative effort to ensure the success of our students. We solicit your continued support as we strive for high achievement and success for all students.
1st Semester grades have been submitted and report cards went home last week. If you have any concerns please reach out to your child's teacher. As a reminder Monday, January 15, 2024 is a holiday. We will observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Our upcoming Family Engagement Activity is a senior meeting scheduled for January 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. (See Flyer Below).
We will continue to keep a close watch on attendance. If your child is in tier 2 or tier 3 of the DCS attendance protocol they have or will have an attendance recovery plan. It is imperative that they adhere to the guidelines of the plan. Please support your child in getting to school each day and on time. Protecting instructional time is critical to academic success. If you have concerns or extenuating circumstances about your child's attendance please reach out to someone here at the school.
As the weather is making a change we are having more instances of students wanting to wear hood/hoodies in the building. Please remind your child of the dress code policy. Students are not allowed to wear hood/hoodies on their heads while in the building. Additionally, we are experiencing an increase in incidents of students vaping. Please talk to your child about the catastrophic consequences vaping could have on their health. We will follow the code of conduct as it relate to tobacco use on school grounds.
Prior to the break Moore Street School participated in a collaborative effort with the fine arts departments of Dublin City Schools. Moore Street School had jewelry display. Two of our shining stars (Jasmine Butler and Lillian Bonner) worked the station. Moore Street School would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to three local entrepreneurs who partnered with us for this event. Adrian Allen, Sonja Bell, and Tamara Moss each donated handcrafted original pieces for this event. Thank you again for believing in and supporting the work of Moore Street School.
