St. Anne School Family Newsletter
February 10, 2021
Dear St. Anne Parents,
The Season of Lent begins next Wednesday, February 17. The first day of Lent is called Ash Wednesday. This Ash Wednesday will be different for all of us in that instead of the blessed ashes being signed in the form of a cross on everyone's forehead, the ashes will be sprinkled on our heads. This is being done to allow everyone to receive ashes, but keep everyone from having contact with the ministers distributing the ashes. Our students will be going to the 12:00 Mass on Ash Wednesday. If the weather permits, we will be having those in-school students socially distanced out in the yard for Mass. Our Distance Learning students will be going to Mass on-line. Their teachers will help to get the students logged into the Mass.
Lent is that special time of the year when Catholics and Christians all over the world take time (40 days) to reflect on own lives. It is a time when each of us should spend time trying to become better people; better husbands, wives, moms, dads, sons. daughters, brothers, sisters, employers/employees. Because we are human, we are all imperfect. Lent is that time when through prayer, action, and determination we can become a better person. We all should take time each day to focus on something that we can do to be a better (you fill in the blank.) It is our hope, then, when Easter arrives through our active engagement, we will be that better person we had hoped we would be when Lent began on Ash Wednesday.
