The Bee's Knees
Barfield Early Childhood April 2023 Newsletter
Message from Mr. G
The end of the school year is fast approaching. We have a few "end of the year" traditions that I want to share with you.
We have Field Day, which we be held on May 23 for both our AM and our PM classes. For Field Day, we have a wide variety of outdoor games and activities planned for the students. Parents are welcome to attend!
We do a little extra for our kindergarten-bound students. Our kindergarten-bound students will take a field trip to their prospective elementary school. Our students will board WSD buses and be transported to their elementary school. The elementary principals will greet the students and give them a tour of the their new school. We have 12 elementary schools so this field trip requires a lot of planning and coordination. I am working with the principals and the transportation department to finalize the details. The visits will take place during the week of May 8. We will send home permission slips in your student's backpack and I will send a text advising you to look for it in their folders.
In last month's newsletter, I mentioned to save the date of May 31 for our Kindergarten Blast Off Program, held at the Liberty High School auditorium. While we do not have a preschool "graduation," we do celebrate our students' achievements. We all take pride in our students completing preschool, which is clearly a significant developmental milestone. We are equally proud and excited for them to go to elementary school. We celebrate them leaving preschool and going to kindergarten with our Blast Off program. The program is a short recital during which the students will sing a selection of Barfield songs that you may have heard being sung from the backseat.
Thank you for your feedback. We will make the end of the year a celebration for all of our students!
Sincerely,
Kevin Garcia
Principal

2022-2023 Barfield Early Childhood Support Staff of the Year Winner!
Bonnie always goes above and beyond to make sure every child feels special. She is so positive and has such a strong relationship with every student in her class! She is loved by everyone! Bonnie gives her all every day. She compliments students as they are walking in the hallway, when she sees them at recess and other times of the day. Even while working with a dysregulated child, Bonnie is always calm, respectful and mindful of the student's feelings and needs. Bonnie never hesitates to help her coworkers. She is very loyal to her coworkers and goes above and beyond for them too. Her attendance is impeccable and it’s obvious that she loves her job! She is a friend to everyone and is great at building strong and professional relationships with those with whom she works closely. Bonnie is a team player and is an asset to our school and her team! Congratulations to Bonnie Auchly, the 2022-23 Barfield Early Childhood Support Staff of the Year!

Note From the Nurses
Seasonal Allergies:
Allergy season has arrived in full force. If your child has seasonal allergies, it is important that they follow their allergy medication regimen as prescribed by their physician. Having them wash their hands and face after outdoor activity can also help alleviate symptoms.
Weather:
We all know how unpredictable Missouri weather can be. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Layers are best.
