Spotlight On - 4th Grade!

4th Grade has been busy navigating our Interactive Notebooks in both Reading and Writing. We are learning about each other's interests through stickers that we use to personalize our notebooks. Students are creating reading and writing goals and discovering who they are as readers and writers. We are learning how to read like writers and have thoughtful discussions from what we read.

Specialist Corner

Hello Cool Cats! I am Mrs. Schulte, your friendly, neighborhood music teacher! In music, we focus on developing skills for self-expression and art appreciation through sound and movement. For the first few weeks of school, we have mainly been focusing on familiarizing ourselves with our digital learning platform, introducing ourselves, and review of last year’s material. Kindergarten and 1rst Grade have been working with steady beat through song and the use of rhythm sticks. 2nd Grade is working on vocal exploration and rhythm symbols. 3rd and 4th Grade are reviewing rhythm notation and 5th Grade is reviewing the treble clef. As we move forward each class will continue to build their musical skills through singing, dancing and playing instruments. We will also continue to develop our listening and music literacy skills. I look forward to making music with my students this year as we dive into this new digital and socially distant way of learning. As the philosopher Plato once said, “Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.”
