Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-
You know you’re old when you talk about things like the weather…but I can’t say I’ve seen a week of April like this in quite some time, maybe never? Credit to our coaches and athletes in spring sports for getting in the practices and games that they were able to. I owe one to Mr. Emmerson for giving me probably the best volunteer job at the track meet last night. While our athletes (and volunteers) were showing their toughness competing in the cold, wind, and even light snow—I got to call the events from the press box…this principal gig has to have some perks once in a while, right?
I love what I do and appreciate this opportunity to work with students and staff who inspire me every day and who make me want to do my best for them. You should read on in today’s newsletter to learn about the great events and success our students are earning. We will recognize 236 students this coming Monday night and induct them into the National Honor Society for their academic achievement! We’re proud of their effort!
Occasionally, I get the pleasure of dropping by our Theater during rehearsals for Once Upon a Mattress. I like to sit in the front row and seeing what our students are doing brings a huge smile to my face! I hope you all can find a show date and come out and support them and enjoy what should be a very fun performance!
Thank you for your continued support for all of us at Ridgeline High School. Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Ridgeline HS Marching Band Meeting- April 26th at 7pm
Hello Ridgeline Orchestra, Colorguard, Percussion, and Band Students and Families,
You're invited to our annual Information Night for 2022 Ridgeline HS Marching Band. We refer to the Marching Band as The Regiment because it’s much more than a band, it’s a whole troupe of dancers, musicians, performers and most of all entertainers. So we want students in our strings, and band divisions to feel like this is a place to call home in the fall.
Tuesday, April 26th @ 7:00pm in the Ridgeline HS Commons, Mr. Parker will share some details about the expectations, the schedule and the steps to get involved as a member of the 2022 Ridgeline Regiment. There is no commitment if you come hear the spiel. Just a lot of good information, access to early-registration and a chance to connect and reunite with friends and families that had such an amazing inaugural year this past fall.
We would encourage you to bring your own device; laptop, chromebook, iPad, etc. The registration form is a little cumbersome to use on a cell phone. We expect to have a few devices available to loan out during the meeting; you do not have to decide right away, but for those who are ready to commit, you can get everything done that night if you like.
We are looking to bring in more band kids, orchestra kids and colorguard kids. But we are also looking for two trained piano players that will play an intricate role in the 2022 production. So if you know some piano players, encourage them to consider learning more about 2022 Regiment.
Can’t wait to see you all there!
Here is a tentative schedule for the coming season:
Graphic Arts Students
The Graphic Arts 2 students recently created Vision Boards depicting their hopes and dreams for the future using Adobe InDesign. They had to share their future vision for eight areas of well-being including love, career, finances, friends and family, environment, spirituality, physical well-being, and mental well-being. They also had to incorporate graphic design principles, continuity of design and color, as well as creative layouts. They all have exciting futures ahead of them!

Youth Leadership Spokane
Youth Leadership Spokane is now accepting applications for high school students grades 10 – 12 for the 2023 class. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about their community, network with industries and organizations, have some great volunteer opportunities, and meet students from all over the Spokane region. The commitment is only one evening a month, and it is a great resume-builder. We want some Ridgeline students representing!

From the Attendance Desk
Reminder- School starts at 7:45am Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. School starts at 8:15am on Thursday. We are starting to see more and more students arriving to school at or after the posted start time. This is causing students to be late to 1st period. It's really important that whether a student drives to school or is dropped off, they arrive with enough time to be in class and ready to go at 7:45 (M,T,W,F) or 8:15 (Th) depending on the day. Please talk with your students about the importance of being to school and classes on time.
If your student is absent from school please call our attendance line at 509-558-3801 to excuse their absence.

Flight Zone
Hey, Falcons! Have you noticed the “Flight Zone” windows painted next to student services? This is your daily reminder to smile, say hello, fist bump, or high five someone new as you pass through the “Flight Zone.” This is your chance to do your part to make all Falcons feel like they BELONG! Who knows…maybe you will make a new friend!
This week the sophomore and junior history classes spent one class period in the library learning about job search, resume, and interview skills from Mrs. Demarest, the Worksite Learning Coordinator at Ridgeline High School. The focus of the lesson was to get the students excited about the upcoming CVSD Job Fair being held in the Ridgeline Commons on May 12th from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Students have been encouraged to create/update their resumes and bring copies to the job fair to apply for summer jobs that day. We are excited to help support our local business community with this event by bringing them to the students and the students to them.
The resources shared in this week’s lesson have been posted to the Class of 2023, 2024, & 2025 Google Classrooms sites if students need examples of resumes to refer to, and to see the list of businesses that will be attending.
