I am excited to announce Collegiate Prep's first family Thanksgiving luncheon! I will send an email this week to register. We are working with the catering company to lower the price as much as possible for our guest.

We will also reach out to the PTA and AllProDads to help with a few volunteer opportunities.

HOSPITALITY

Help us celebrate Dr. Lewis during National Principal's Month! We will be collecting words of appreciation through Friday, October 21st. Please share any thoughts, special stories, or words of gratitude for Dr. Lewis by completing this form.

PROGRAMS

CHCPPTA invites you to participate in the National PTA Reflections program. This year's theme is "Show Your Voice!" Scholars can submit entries in any of six different artistic categories, and have their work recognized and celebrated on a local, state, and national level! The National PTA School of Excellence recognition program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities. The program is committed to supporting and recognizing partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. This year we are aiming for our 3rd designation. Please take 5 minutes and complete our baseline survey.

Greetings Prep Family,

My name is Mrs. Tyler-Johnson and I serve as the campus Instructional Facilitator. In my role I'm tasked with supporting teachers and scholars. I will be collaborating with our teachers this school year to help develop effective plans and provide engaging classroom experiences to help all scholars THRIVE. I will also support in the area of small group RLA intervention in grades 3-5. I'm a servant at heart so my desire is to help in assisting all that I serve reach their fullest potential.

Classes have been checking out books and this past week the scholars were given a chance to take home some free books so be on the lookout for library books with black marks across their spine labels and barcodes. These books DO NOT need to come back to campus. The books have been weeded from the library based on age, usage, or reading level to try to get our library to meet the base library standards (12 books per scholar, books averaging no more than 16 years old). We are currently at 20 books per scholar and and average book age of 21 years old. With Dr. Lewis' support, I believe we will be up to proficient rating (14 books per scholar, average age of no more than 14 years) by the end of the year, moving towards distinguished (18 books per scholar, books averaging no more than 10 years old with regular weeding) by next year. Most of the books in the library were leftover books from the intermediate schools. What that means is that many of the books, especially the non-fiction books, are on a 6-10th grade reading level and are too old. I have weeded many of the non-fiction books out and they are available for students to use as your family sees fit. This may mean that you read them, do art projects with them, recycle them, do black-out poetry with them, etc. Pictures of a few ideas are below. Many students have already told me how they are already doing crafts or plan to do crafts with their books. If you have been creative in using these books, please send me pictures so we can celebrate the continued usage of our once beloved, slightly timeworn books.

Wellness Wednesdays are back by popular demand. We are so excited to announce that we will extend our series to include more sessions and more fun! Our “Wellness Wednesday'' parent extension sessions have been designed specifically to meet the needs of our Collegiate Prep families. We invite you to partner with us and join in discussions and activities with education professionals. We will collaborate to share positive solutions and strategies to support our scholars’ real-time needs. Sessions will be held in person, at Collegiate Prep, one Wednesday a month.
