News & Information for Tiger Families
Letter from the Principal
I would like to invite all military (veterans and active duty) family members of St. Teresa School students to attend a special celebration to honor their service to our country.
Please join us on Thursday, November 9th at St. Teresa School in the gym by 2 pm. Please enter the gym doors closest to the playground.
The program includes patriotic musical performances by the St. Teresa School Choir students. St. Teresa students will present a few short readings regarding our country's military history. We will recognize veterans and active duty military personnel who are present, as well as recognizing St. Teresa students with relatives who are veterans or active duty.
The program will end with a presentation of a small token of our appreciation to our honored guests, and a large group photo. We anticipate the program ending at approximately 2:50pm.
Have a picture of a family member or friend who served in the military. Please send all pictures to nicole.green@stteresatigers.org so we may spotlight them on our WALL of HEROS!
If you have questions please contact our office at 618-235-4066. We look forward to celebrating Veterans Day with you!
As always, we thank you for sharing your student with us. We appreciate your trust, support, and partnership.
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

St. Teresa Spotlight
Emily Dunn, St. Teresa Class of 2019 and member of Girl Scout Troop 537, has completed her Girl Scout Gold Award project. Emily was inspired by the Mercy Mat project that St. Teresa's Jr. St. Vincent DePaul did in 2021. She began her Mercy Mat mission on February 1, 2022 and completed it on October 13, 2023 when she delivered 10 mats to Project Compassion. Emily reached out to several groups and troops who helped her collect, cut up and loop together plastic shopping bags in order to make the "plarn" needed to weave the mats. The St. Teresa JSVDP, the Twirl Girls, Ladies of Perpetual Help, Girl Scout Troops 100 and 537, members of PSOP, and the ladies at the Benedictine Living Community at The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, including Emily's Grammie Ann Dunn, all worked together to make this project a success. St. Teresa eighth grader, Lenora Bryce, even crocheted one of the mats! Emily's mats cost absolutely nothing to make, as all materials were recycled and everyone's time was donated. She will receive her Gold Award Certificate on May 19, 2024 and be awarded with the Trifecta, meaning she finished all 3 awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Congratulations, Emily, your Tiger spirit continues to shine!

Inclement Weather Plan
IS SCHOOL CLOSED?
Closure of St. Teresa School will be shared FIRST on the St. Teresa School website and on official St. Teresa social media within minutes of the decision.
St. Teresa School will be following District 118 closure policy.
If District 118 is closed due to inclement weather, St. Teresa's will also be closed.
For the 2023-2024 school year there will be no "remote learning" days.
As children we all looked forward to the fun of a "snow day."
All "snow days" will be made up at the end of the school year.
