TIPS Journal April 2, 2022
on the school year so far
Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School
Thanks everyone for the warm response to our Variety Show! I only captured a few photos, which I include below. You can watch the whole show again, or see it for the first time if you missed it, via a link to the show on our website soon.
The Parent / Student/ Teacher interviews are coming up April 20 - 21. This is a very important part of our communication system with you because it allows our teachers to hear directly from parents about their child's situation and vice versa. You will soon receive a request to sign up for a time to speak with your child's teachers. The deadline to sign up will be April 18. Please take advantage of this chance to communicate with teachers directly.
Registration for summer school is now open. Our three-week program is a good time to review grade content or preview the coming grade content. There is also an emphasis on fun in the form of outdoor fitness, teambuilding and painting. You may see more details about our summer program and download the registration form here:
While there, please watch Mr. Jessen-Petersen describe the upcoming webinar "Resiliency", which, on April 15 at 7 p.m., will be his third offering in the series "Good Learning Habits for School and Home." All are welcome to attend this free event.
As always, any questions, please ask!
All the best,
Lyn Sato

STUDENT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
On March 17th, the Student Council organized a fundraiser in which there were various activities. This fundraiser was to raise funds for the current humanitarian crisis going on in Ukraine. We asked parents to give funds to their children in order to purchase tokens and play the games on this day. Tokens were used as an entry to play and participate in activities, such as trivia games, card games, and UNO. Goods, including a t-shirt which will be designed by TIPS students to support Ukraine, and snacks (some donated by parents) were available to buy. Some large donations were highly appreciated and helpful.
We would also like to share our gratitude to Ms.Yunita, who made lunches for the day and donated all the profit to Ukraine!
All the profits that were made this day were sent to organizations that are working under the circumstances helping people in need in Ukraine. The number of funds that were contributed came out to a total of 116,510 yen! We as the student council would like to personally thank the students of TIPS and anyone who donated to display their continuous support for Ukraine. Lastly, a friendly reminder that Ukraine T-shirts will be on sale for 3,000 yen.
