Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the procedure for picking my student up early?
A. If a student needs to be picked up early, a note should be sent with the student to the front office in the morning, stating the time the parent would like him/her at the front office. The student will get it stamped by the office and this is the pass to come up front to be checked out. We do this so as not to interrupt the class and instructional time. Please do not call the front office requesting your child be sent to the front office. Once you are in the building, we call them up.
Q. What if my student forgets something and I need to bring it to school?
A. While we hope that students come prepared each day, we have 3 light blue carts in front of the front office windows labeled by grade level. We have a table next to the carts stocked with tape, markers and paper for labeling items dropped off. Place the item on the cart of your students’ grade level. Unfortunately, we do not call students for forgotten items. The student may pick up items between classes or at lunch time from the cart.
Q. What if my student forgets his/her device?
A. Parents can drop the device at the front desk where we keep them until the student comes to get them. It is the students' responsibility to pick them up between classes or at lunch time. Unfortunately, we are unable to call into classrooms for forgotten items.
Q. What if my child gets sick at school?
A. If your student feels sick during the school day, he/she should always go to the clinic. The clinic needs to keep a record of students who are ill. Students SHOULD NOT call or text on their cell phones or smart watches for parents to pick them up.
Q. Is my child allowed to use their cell phone to call home?
A. Cell phones are not allowed to be used during school time. There is a phone in the front office if the student needs to call home. We encourage students to come prepared to school each day, thus the phone is for emergencies only.
Q. Where do I turn in student attendance notes?
A. If your student is out of school, there needs to be a parent or doctors note sent into the front office within 5 days of being absent.
You may email Jackie Dejo at Dejo@fultonschools.org.
Attendance Policy/Attendance Matters Attendance Policy / Attendance Matters (fultonschools.org)
Q. Do I need my ID when checking out my student?
A. Please be prepared to show your ID when checking out your student. This is for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.
Q. What if my student needs medication at school?
A. Students are not allowed to carry medications with them at school unless they have a permission form (SHS-2) signed and on file in the clinic. This includes prescription and over the counter medications of any kind.
Questions, please contact our Clinic Assistant Stephanie Sorina SorinaS@fultonschools.org
Q. What time is the school store open?
A. The school store is open from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Q. What time are students allowed into the school in the morning?
A. The school opens at 7:50 a.m.
Q. Do I need to call the front office if my student is sick for the day?
A. You DO NOT need to call the front office if a student is out sick. Upon returning to school. send a note to the front office and the attendance will be adjusted.
Q. What if my child comes to school late?
A. Parents DO NOT need to bring children in if they are late. Students DO have to report to the office to get a pass to their classroom.
Q. Are students allowed to leave the building without checking out?
A. A parent MUST always come to the front office to check students out of school. This is for the safety of the student.
Note:
1. If someone else is checking your student out they must be on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal Contact list and have their ID.
2. You may also send a note in with your student with the first and last name of the person picking your child up.
Remember to always send a note with your student to the front desk the morning of the check-out. Please be prepared to show your ID.

Arrival and Dismissal Information
Dear Parents,
To help us with a smooth arrival and dismissal, please review the attached documents. More important tips are below.
- The bus is the most efficient transportation for most families as our parking lot is very small for our school size. (Please be patient especially during the first two weeks of school.)
- If your student will be a bus rider, please start using the bus in the AM on the 1st day of school. This helps students and bus drivers with afternoon bus stops since both will be familiar with correct stops. Most concerns happen when students don’t ride the bus to school the first day but decide to ride home on the bus.
- For safety reasons, students must be escorted by parents if they are using the red crosswalks on the attached documents. Students may use the yellow crosswalks without parents. However, remind students to look both ways when crossing any street.
- The earliest drop off time is 7:50AM when doors open. All early birds wait in the cafeteria until 8AM. At 8AM, 6th and 7th graders move to the gym. 8th graders remain in the cafeteria. Students are released to go to homeroom/lockers at approximately 8:35AM. Homeroom begins at 8:55AM.
- If you would like to avoid traffic in the afternoons, arrive at 4:20PM for carpool.
- Please continue to pull all the way forward in the carpool line during morning and afternoon drop-off. Other cars are behind you, and extra steps are healthy for us.
- Please follow the directions of the AMMS staff during arrival and dismissal. (Please let me know if you would like to serve as a volunteer during arrival or dismissal.)
- Expect delays during the first two weeks of school. Buses complete an elementary school run and then a high school run before arriving at middle school. Elementary schools are very cautious to make sure that students get home the correct way. This takes extra time while routines are being established. Thank you in advance for your patience.
- Please always respect AMMS staff and bus drivers. There are nationwide shortages. Thank you for helping us keep the Best and Brightest!
Reminder- Please make sure your students know their bus number prior to Monday. You may use this link if needed. Bus Information Link
Sincerely,
Mr. Martin

FCS COVID 19 Reporting Procedures
FCS COVID 19 Reporting
Due to the ever-changing nature of this pandemic, the district will continue to monitor COVID data and recommendations, consult with public health officials, and make additional adjustments as necessary. If your child is sick, please keep them home. Families are still required to report a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, a pending COVID-19 test result (regardless of the reason for testing), and a direct contact with a person who is COVID-19 positive. FCS student/parents must use the Parent Reporting Portal to make the COVID-19 report.
