Principal's Message
Hello Thurston Families,
It is hard to believe that it is already the end of October. We have had a pretty smooth start to the school year and have a good daily routine going throughout the building. Things will probably go by even faster between now and winter break. November is one of those months that has several no school days due to Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, grading day and conferences. Starting November 6th, you will be able to go into Synergy ParentVue and schedule your teacher conference. (More information to come.) We are looking forward to seeing all of you. 🙂
We appreciate our students’ responsibility regarding their computer devices. Each day they are to have a charged device, care for it properly, and use it responsibly, both in school and at home. This vital resource helps us develop 21st Century skills in our students!
Happy Halloween!
We've finished two months of school already! Classroom routines are established and students are learning new things every day.
We are planning a fun day for Halloween. Teachers may have some themed projects during the day, and our annual serpentine of costumes was held in the morning.
Month of Giving Change Drive
We helped the homeless in our area with our Socktober sock drive. The month of November will be our Month of Giving Change Drive. Your student can bring change (or cash!), which will help TES families in need at the holidays and beyond. We're working to develop compassionate, kind humans!
Picture Retakes
November 15th will be our Picture Retake day. If your child was absent on the first picture day, or you want to replace the photos, plan to have his/her photo taken that morning. If you already have pictures you want to replace, please send them back that day as part of the exchange. As you can see, some students came dressed to the nines for our first picture day! (Thank you, Ms. Ashley, for posing with our gorgeous students!)
Library News
Mrs. A reminds all students: Library books are due on full-day Fridays!
3rd-5th Grade students are reading books in preparation for Battle of the Books, which will take place in January/February. Students will be quizzed on the content of the books they are reading. Click here for a list of titles and authors.
WatchDOGS
WatchDOGS (Dads Of Great Students) filled the halls and playground on Friday morning, for recess fun and time in classrooms. If you would be interested in the next WatchDOGS event, December 8th, you can contact Collin Waldahl for more information. You must have an approved volunteer application through the district's Raptor system in order to volunteer in any capacity in the school.
