Grade 8 Community Project
As an International Baccalaureate World School that offers the Middle Years Program (MYP), all Grade 8 students are required to complete a Community Project. This is a project that students will work on throughout the year (October - April) where they must identify a problem they see in their community and conduct research to find a solution. Students are required to demonstrate 15 hours of research, planning, and action that will result in a culminating exhibition they will present to members of the community, fellow students, teachers, and staff on May 24, 2023.
As we prepare all of our students to become global-minded, caring citizens, our 8th graders should use this opportunity to let their voices be heard! This is an exciting service learning opportunity. Therefore, students should be encouraged to work on a topic that they really care about. Parents/Guardians, please encourage your child to use the MYP Community Project Process Journal to help them plan and research their project. Lastly, students are assigned mentors that they should communicate with regularly to ensure the success of their project.
