SCOIR Career and College Platform:
We are pleased to announce that Champlin Park High School is introducing a new college planning system called Scoir. We have chosen Scoir to help you navigate the college selection and application process because it is simply the best system available for discovering colleges that match your personal as well as academic interests.
You will soon receive an email invitation from Scoir or a unique URL from CPHS with a link to register your account. Once you create your account, you can immediately begin using Scoir to search for and start building a list of colleges that interest you. You will be required to use Scoir to request letters of recommendation from faculty and to request the sending of academic transcripts. Your parents/guardians will also have access to Scoir to assist you in your college selection and to gain more insight about the cost of attendance at different colleges. The counseling office will be using Scoir to communicate with you during your college planning process and to electronically deliver your application materials to colleges.
We are excited to be able to provide Scoir to our students and families, and we feel confident that you will find it helpful and easy to use.
Safety and Security Procedures in place to protect school safety
Maintaining a safe and secure school environment begins at the front door when parents/guardians and visitors enter the building. Enhanced safety and security procedures aim to maintain a high level of customer service while also improving building safety. These are standard safety procedures that are in effect at all of our high schools.
Enhanced entrance security procedures/requirements:
Advance appointments needed to enter school during the school day.
Valid identification required.
Drop-off items for students will be managed at the security desk/front office area.
Student pick-up will be arranged in advance and students will meet parents/guardians outside school.
Cell phones
Focusing on learning, limiting use of cell phones in school
The digital well-being of our students is critical to their success in high school. All of our high schools thrive on creating a healthier, more effective and engaging learning environment in our classrooms by limiting the use of cell phones. The impact of cell phones on student’s developing brains and their educational success is well researched; the negatives of using cell phones in the classroom far outweighs the positives. Each of our schools have developed a cell phone policy that is in alignment to our District handbook pg. 53. All our high schools expect that students will turn their cell phones off or put them in airplane mode during class time and store them in their backpack unless the teacher has given permission. Removing cell phone use from the classroom will increase student engagement and learning, and limit the negative impacts of social media.
During passing time and at lunch students are welcome to use their phones. If a student needs to access Google Classroom, check their grades or email, they can use their Chromebook to do so. If a parent/guardian has an emergency and needs to contact a student right away, they can email the student at their school email account or call the main office and a message will be sent right away to the classroom to have the student step out and call home.
All of our high schools will be reviewing cell phone expectations with students in class the first week of school and we greatly appreciate your support.
Complete back-to-school verification, now
Families are required to update emergency contact information and review school policies each year
Make a plan to complete your student’s back-to-school verification, now. Families may complete the verification online by logging into A-HConnect.
It’s important that each family completes the verification process before the first day of school. Verification ensures that each student’s school has confirmed emergency contact information and releases for the safety of each student.
Families may complete the verification on their own time, whenever it’s convenient. Even if families’ contact information has not changed, it’s important to log in to access a variety of other student information in the coming weeks, including class schedules and teacher assignments, attendance, school handbooks, progress reports and grades for middle and high school students. High school students will not be able to enroll in fall activities until the back to school verification process is complete.
By logging in to complete student verification for the upcoming school year, families may also apply to receive additional educational benefits, discounts and reduced fees after completing the verification process.
Login to A-HConnect to complete your student’s back to school forms for the upcoming school year.
Parents/guardians can access back to school forms by clicking the lock icon and “Login” at the top right corner of any district or school website.
Then, select, "My Student Information."
Next, choose “Online registration.”
Select “Back-to-school annual verification.”
If you need help finding your login/password, call 763-506-HELP or email 506help@ahschools.us for assistance.
Families of students in middle and high school
Back to school verification also includes the option to enroll in an optional device protection plan for district-issued Chromebooks, which are assigned to students in grades 6-12 to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning. Visit ahschools.us/techprotect to learn more about Chromebook protection and insurance options.
